Just watched it.... Stang won. Wish the Challenger was a 6 speed.

Great vid! Thanks for the link. I think a full manual valve body would have made the day for the (slap stick) automatic Challenger. The 0-100-0 was hindered by gearing, and the fact that the stang got loose at launch. It wont bring you a better ET, but loss of traction at launch always makes for better MPH out the 1/4.

I wish some of these tests could be done with something other then the darn 20 inch (wannaB) tires.

Lastly, I bet the Challenger had 3 more laps before over heating. Prior to the Challenger, I would have shut the engine down at close to what we now run at all the time. Old school teaches that 200-210 is more then enough, and our Challengers hit temps of 250+ when shut down right after playing.....

I love the new pony car wars!

The Stang puts most all HP to the tires, and the Challenger would see at least 15-18% parasitic loss through the Automatic hydrolics. Thats putting 120+ less HP to the ground (good thing because the POS tires would never have gained traction).

And you wondered why I want a manual lock up switch for the converter Chris?

Rant off....

Nice vid. But I agree, a 6-speed would be the trans of choice.
