Default Automaker inhumane

First, I hear Toyota/Japan and now I read Chery Automobile/China. Yuk!

Automaker inhumane

LARRY ALLEN

(Feb 19, 2007)

How arrogant and inhumane can DaimlerChrysler be? On the eve of the announcement that it would have massive layoffs, the company introduces "the all-new Chrysler Challenger" (Chrysler's Saving Grace?; On Eve Of Widely Anticipated Cuts, Brampton Workers Learn They'll Build Dodge Challenger -- Feb. 14).

The company said it would produce an estimated 50,000 a year. Won't that be an astounding replacement for all those lost jobs that were finally announced (13,000 Chrysler Jobs Lost -- Region May Feel Some Pain -- Feb. 15)?

Not only does DaimlerChrysler make this depressing layoff announcement, but it recently made a deal with Chinese automaker Chery Automobile to build compact "world cars" in China. Why can't these cars be assembled in the North American plants that are being shut down?

What are you refering to about Toyota and Chery? If your talking about a buyout, Chery really concerns me. That company does things that are very unethical, let alone illegal. That would be the worst company they could merge with. I was not happy when I heard that DCX was going to outsource to Chery.

I'm not opposed to international business, but there are some companies I just can't stand. The main reason why I would like to see Chrysler separated from Daimler is the fact that they are were planning on having Chery make this car. That was the final straw for me. I can over look CVTs being used, Mitsubishi platforms, Hyundai engines, Mercedes over priced & junky trannies, but Chery is just too far.

I don't like what Daimler has done to Chrysler and I still think that Chrysler would have been better off if they would have stayed separate. I would rather had Kirk Kerkorian buy Chrysler out than have Daimler run it. I have no faith in what they are doing to the company.

This article referred to Chery and the previously posted article referred to Toyota looking at Chrysler.

That would be terrible if Chery would get a hold of Chrysler. The quality would go down the dumper. I wonder what their interest in Chrysler is. The brand recognition or the technology.

I don't want to get flamed but we got no one to blame for all this outsourcing but the unions.
