Challenger SS concept unveiled in Las Vegas
Well this looks official. Interesting that they are using the Super Stock moniker. Probably since they are only using it to introduce the 392 Hemi.

RE: Challenger SS concept unveiled in Las Vegas
and chrysler now has official information. it appears as though the autoblog people just copied and pasted it from the DCXM site...oddly, chrysler seems to have excluded things in their review of the Challenger Super Sport.
But if i may present a point. If you review that autoblog article copied from the DCX site, it appears as though chrysler never actually uses the "SS" name or badge. It is always spelled out, which leads me to believe that perhaps GM does own the rights to badging a vehicle as such? For instance, im pretty sure that dodge owns the rights to "RT" and "SRT"...

Super Sport is a GM monicker. The Challenger "SS" stands for SUPER STOCK which I don't think anyone can claim "ownership" of except MOPARS in the sixties and seventies! YEAH BABY! Oh and by the way.......Hi All! And oh yeah, ain't it COOL! Makes that Camaro concept look even more pathetic. What a dud!

It appears they also want to sell different versions of this engine to performance enthusiast.

What I mean is I think that they will have different versions of the 392 for performance enthusiast and the new Dodge Challenger.
I think this engine may become very popular since you will probably be able to buy it in a new car and an old car.

Oh, that is what you meant. I definitely agree that it will be popular with performance enthusiast. It is rated at producing more hp than the 426 HEMI crate engine and a little less tq (and probably costs less as well). Also the advantage of the small block is that it should also weigh less. It makes more sense to get this over a 426 HEMI crate engine other than for originality.
I hope your right and I'm wrong about the 392 being offered in the Challenger.
