MOPAR MERCHADISE TRAILER, DAIMLERCHRYSLER CONCEPT VEHICLES TO APPEAR AT
MOPAR BIG BLOCK PARTY

Center Line, Mich. — Race fans attending the Mopar Big Block Party on
Thursday, July 13, will get an up-close view at some of DaimlerChrysler’s hottest
new concept vehicles. The Challenger, Gladiator, Hornet and Rampage concept
vehicles are sure to catch the eyes of partygoers in downtown Golden, Colorado.
The vehicles will also be on display at Bandimere Speedway for the duration
of the 27th Annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals.
Mopar will also debut its latest attraction, a new merchandise trailer,
which will give partygoers and race fans a chance to purchase Mopar gear on-site
from the Mopar Big Block Party and racing event. The Mopar merchandise
trailer will open its doors for the first time on July 13, and will travel to
several events throughout the remainder of the racing season. Available for
purchase will be Mopar apparel, Team Mopar and Don Schumacher Racing apparel, and
select Oakley merchandise.
The Mopar Big Block party will also feature an open press conference on the
stage from 6:15 to 6:30 p.m. MDT, followed by a MoPowered wedding. Newly
ordained minister Gary Scelzi will lead a Mopar-crazed couple in taking their
vows, as Ron Capps and Angelle Sampey look on as the duo’s best man and maid of
honor. An autograph session featuring more than 20 of the top drivers and
crew chiefs in the NHRA will headline the Mopar Big Block Party. The autograph
session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. MDT.
This year’s festivities will be caught on film, as “SpeedFreaks�?? tapes a
live show from the event. Race fans will have an opportunity to see Kenny
Sargent, Crash Gladys, Statt Mann and Lugg Nuttz of the Freak Nation interact
with NHRA POWERade drivers.
Headlining the entertainment for the Mopar Big Block Party will be Chicago’s
best cover band, Maggie Speaks. The fabulous foursome of David Calzaretta,
Blake Cooper, Shawn Sommer and Samir Varma has entertained crowds at the
coveted “Taste of Chicago�?? event, and will again appear in Golden on Chi-town’s
behalf. Featuring a play list that ranges from AC/DC and Aerosmith, to Nelly
and Matchbox 20, partygoers are sure to find their musical tastes covered by
Maggie Speaks.
The Mopar Big Block Party will kick off at 6 p.m. MDT in downtown Golden,
Colo., on Thursday, July 13. There is no charge for admission.

Question. Why is it called a "Big Block Party" if none of the vehicles have a big-block?

I think the term used is normally a block party and they are just saying it will be big and they are just having fun with a play on words.
