I believe they are planning on offering a V6 engine. I hope that they improve the fuel economy on the V8s for the 09 Challenger.

 

I was called the other day and told the first releases would be in May of 08'. The 09's would be right behind them.

Sounds right, from what I have heard. But you do realise that some people with a very large bank account will be tooling around in a new Challenger by March of 08. I would'nt doubt that people of influence will be on the street in March of 08 in new Challenger. But for the norm of all people, I believe you are correct that May will be the average Joe with a little more coin than me, will be seen in his new Challenger SRT-8. Then when the 09s come out, you will see me looking and dealing to get a 6.1 6-speed Then the roads will be filled with tunes of Rock&Roll and the exhaust note of a HEMI at full song. Mustangs will quiver and Camaros shake because the beast has been unleashed to an unsuspecting public. Just kidding, we have to play up the hype, its what is expected. Let the street wars resume. We lost some battles, but we never lost the war. We were MIA for a time but we are back and better than new.

 

Prior to this time I believed the proposed scenerio's of the 5 and 6 speeds in the 08's and 09's respectively was purely conjecture. However, it was suggested by the dealer that I change my position to get the 09 with a 6 speed instead of one of the first ones out of the gate.

Opinions?

I have not received any information of price, available colors or options but have been told that orange, black and white "probably" be offered.

 

From what I understand, the 08s will only be 6.1 Automatics only. I wish I could post where that was read, but I read every tid bit and I would not know where to begin to look for that info.

 

Look at the start of this thread. Edmunds stated the following:

"A 5,000-car limited-run 2008 Challenger SRT will be unveiled at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show in February. The SRT will use the 6.1-liter Hemi mated to a five-speed automatic."

 

Edmunds is a strong and solid source of info. Things do change. I can live with the auto-stick 5 speed.

I've actually read it somewhere other than on the first page, but thank you for pointing that out. Edmunds does have an insight but not the corner market on all the info on the 2008 Challenger. I believe I heard it from the Dodge dealer that my son took his Charger to last week and unusually very informed on the release of the 2008 and 2009 Challenger. I believe its more fact than conjecture, only because a usually clueless salesman had the same info that other news sources have posted also.

eyup, that is enough for me to wait till the '09's come out.

Then I will be able to choose my color, engine, tranny, and options. eyah, that sounds like a win in my book - Especially since my wallet and wife do not always agree. 8^)
