Default 5.7 Rev Limiter

I have 3000 miles on my R/T 6 Speed. I am normally very aware of the RPM when running through the gears under normal circumstances. I have never exceeded the redline. Today I was having fun on a wet parking lot messing around with donuts and drifting. On two occasions I hit the rev limiter. I didn't notice what RPM the limiter kicked in. I have two questions:

At what RPM does the rev limiter activate?

Will getting into the rev limiter from time to time cause any damage to the engine?

I was really suprised how quickly the engine was revving doing the drifting stuff. Not the way I normally drive but a ton of fun!

Thanks for the help

I believe it hits fuel cut. I have over reved a few times and it just shuts down. Most rev limiters will drop cylinders while miantaining the red line limit. Called bouncing off the red line.

The enging shutting down is totally accurate. I used the term rev limiter but it does feel like a fuel cutoff.

I was just wondering if this occurred above the redline and if so how far? I know that it is designed to protect from catastrophic failure but if I inadvertantly get into it from time to time have I done any long term damage or should the engine be totally safe?

If you are accellerating through the gears and hit fuel cut no problem. If you are down shifting and mechanically go past the red line by a good bit... there could be damage. But if you just bump off the fuel cut then no big deal.
