Rattle at 70 MPH
My R/T has developed a rattle at cruising speeds. It's coming from the passenger side. I have tried to touch all the exposed surfaces that I can reach while driving and I can't stop the sound. It's not a problem with the radio on, but I have to find this thing. I can take it to the dealer and hope for the best but I hate to have mechanic's crawling around my car. Hopefully they can find it. Over time it will make me very unhappy.
I've still only got 370 miles on mine (LOUSY Pa. weather since I bought my car!) and so I'm still in the breakin period and haven't beenn driving at 70mph yet. BUT, I have already heard a bit of a rattle up in the dashboard of mine even at lower speeds (although to be honest, it isn't bothering me because it doesn't sound like anything important and I have 3 more years of warranty in case it is).
And my mom's 3-month-old 1000 mi Buick LaCrosse has a similar road noise (which since she has a 4 year bumper-to-bumper I'm even less concerned about hers).
But yeah, there may be something here that's a "characteristic" of the Challenger...???...

I have heard a rattle or what sound's like something in the glove box when I slow up . I have heard a nose from my sunglass in the over head storge if not laid in just so. I all hear most of the time is AC DC coming out of the speaker's or the great sound of the Hemi as i shift gear's in my 6 speed Challenger. I know the automatic version is much quiter than the stick model.
I have a 6 speed. My car has 1500 miles and I would like it to be rattle free but I do realize that somethings do come with a new car design when purchased early in the model cycle. The warranty will be there so no worries.
Mine has almost 3K on my RT 6-speed and I have noticed a rattle in the dash at 65 or 70 in the right conditions. I have not had the chance to trace it down yet. I agree that it might be part of the "new" model but I would like it gone as well.
At what point in time do you second guess your hasty purchasing decisions? Geez if it were me, it would probably be when I realized that the beautiful, new R/T Challenger that I just overpaid for is actually spending more time at the dealer getting the "bugs worked out" than it is getting beat by Mustang GTs on the battlefield!
