Default 2008s vs 2009s

While at the dealership picking up my splash guards I learned some very interesting things from one of the ASEs. There are a number of differences. They showed me the '08 exhaust system which had just been replaced with a MagnaFlow system. It had these things they called suit cases just after the cats that the '09 do not have. The '09 also have beefier axle housings that have forced MagnsFlow and Borla and the rest to reconfigure their '09 setups. The '09s have definitely been re-enforced over the '08s.

I also got an up close and personal with one of the Speed Factory test mules with long tube headers, Cam, ECM and MagnaFlow system. The car was putting over 450 to the wheels. O M G!!

Just wondering where the 2010's figure in all of this? My guess would be the 2009's & 2010's are absolutely identical but i could be wrong. I've never heard of "suit case's other then the one's you travel with, what are they?

2009 Challengers now available in "Torred" (red color). 2008's all have a serial numbered dash plaque on the dash, 2009's just say "Challenger SRT8" for example. So other then a slight increase in price and an additional color, the rest of the changes would be considered cosmetic in nature.

The “suitcase” is in reference to the mufflers which even though they are “dual” in nature are a one piece unit which many feel have the look of a “suitcase”. I thought they were still using this arrangement on the new SRT’s, but could be wrong. I know the exhaust is different for the RT vs the SRT due to the MDS and likewise there is a difference between the auto and 6-speed Challengers.
In addition they have “beefed-up” the 2009-and newer rear-end pieces over the 2008 including offering a limited slip differential.
But, overall not much in the way of really big changes from the 2008 models. Different colors being offered but not a lot of new or different options, mostly add-ons. Looks as if 2011 may bring some changes, we’ll have to wait and see.
The 2008 models were numbered, which is nice…will it make a difference in future value….only time will tell……
