SRT8 Audio
So I have found a great price on an SRT8, only problem is that is has the Boston 6 speaker system instead of the Kicker. Can a person get the system upgraded at the dealership fairly easily? Or would it be best to go aftermarket? Any opinions on the Boston system vs the Kicker?

You can always do better in the after market and usually for the same or less money than dealer/factory installed equipment. The Amps are better and they can incorporate cross-over technology and a whole host of other pro audio equipment\configuration options that the OEMs aren't going to consider. I bet if you cross reference the OEM Boston Accustics speakers in the BA catalog they are the low-end units.
I always opt for the base stereo and upgrade after market. The best I could do on my SRT was delete the Sat system. Still have the U-Connect with bluetooth and Sat. radio.

I still have the Kicker dash top coaxial tweeters if you want them. My car was originally wired for 4 speakers. You can have them for $25.00 plus shipping. Otherwise no biggie.

I have a complete Challenger R/T standard sound system with the four original speakers. The radio still has the plastic cover on the face. I also have two SRT8 Kicker tweeters which are coaxial. Make me an offer.

I added the Kicker door and rear deck speakers to my R/T this morning. I am glad they did not sell on Ebay because I love the sound. I had a professional shop do the install. Very simple and cheap. When I bought my RER radio I then bought the speakers from the same SRT8 which was a new take out system. A very recomended swap for those who bought low option cars like mine. I love that my car has cloth seats, 20 inch wheels, RER Nav. radio and four SRT8 Kicker speakers.

Akmn, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 6 speaker BA system and my SRT has the kicker. Admittedly I haven't spent much time in the SRT yet and haven't played any CDs in it yet. Yet on the drive home from the dealer I really didn't notice a lot of difference between the two. Maybe a slightly better sound especially on the base side, but not enough to warrant spending a lot of money upgrading. IMHO. Suggest you go to a dealer that's got one with a kicker and listen to it, then decide.

RE: SRT8 Audio
My car sounded perfectly fine with the speakers from Mopar with the paper cones. The question is how long will those last. The Kickers are some sort of polimer and the bass response is definitely better. Set your balance to back speakers only and the truth is told on which is better.
