RE: cold air intake
ORIGINAL: Jimmyk88
I'm new to the forum, just got my Challenger a couple of weeks ago. What a car, I love it.
I'm currently looking for a cold air intake but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Just do a search of this site and you will find all kinds of information on the different CAI's out there.
You can also do a search on the web and you will find more vendors......

RE: cold air intake
I had hoped Mopar or someone would have manufactured the concept version of the K&N CAI that rested on the radiator support. It removed any of the loss in the tubing, was cool looking - at least orignially was tied into hood scoops via underhood ducting.

I just got my R/T 6 spd last friday......I'm thinking about either the C&L intake or the Mopar one. I'm leaning towards the C&L because it uses the stock air box to isolate the filter from the hot air coming off the engine....any suggestions?

AF Pilot
I got the C&L CAI and think it looks great(matches engine intake). I also like the fact it uses the same air box, and when customized, takes fresh air in from the front grill. Can't go wrong with this set up!!

RE: cold air intake
i just installed the K/N kit, looks cool under the hood, however I am just waiting on the custom poiping I have made so it could be painted to match the color of the car, it will break up some all that black piping under the hood.
All in all the K/N does give the car a throatier sound when accelerating. I was impressed with the sound alone, I paid $321 inclu taxes and it took less than 25mins to install, was very easy,

70Cuda,
Did you notice any difference with intake/exhaust sound or throttle response? I too like the fact that it uses the stock airbox to isolate the filter...did it bolt right up ok or did you have to mod anything?

Did not have to mod anything but the stock box. C&L recommends to cut out the front part of the stock airbox to let more cool air in from the grill. You can choose to do this or not, I did. I could not tell any difference in sound or response because I installed my ZOOMERS exhaust at the same time. So it was a big change all at once.

Thanks for the info, it was a toss up between the C&L and the Mopar one...I'm gonna go with the C&L, just need to save for it now. Maybe I should give people rides in the Chally and charge them for it...or maybe I'll tell my wife to impose a 5 diaper limit on the kids per day....
