Okay, I will be different. Of the original engines, I will take the high winding 340 because of it high rpms and it is lighter. In the quarter mile,
the performance is close with these engines but the engine weight gives the road handling advantage to the 340.

Motor Trend tested the '70 'Cuda in 340, 440 Six-Pack and Hemi versions. The acceleration results had the 340 car
getting to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, the 440 car scooting there in 5.9 seconds and the Hemi making it in 5.8 seconds.
The quarter-mile flew by in 14.5 seconds at 95 mph for the 340, 14.4 seconds at 100 mph for the 440 and 14 seconds
flat at 102 mph for the Hemi.

Sure it will give me brownie points. LOL.

Actually, I just like lighter engines with torque/high rpm combination. Kinda like the best overall engine.

Hey, if we're now throwing all engines into the mix, I'd have to say the 383 OVERALL. Great reliability, beat them to hell & back, good performance, and inexpensive to run & modify.

Also, the 383 road runners, cuda, Chargers, Superbees, etc., are truly who made a great deal of the mopar glory on the street simply because most consumers did not have the $$ for a 440 or a hemi.

So I vote for the Roger Dangerfield of the group...

I've talked to several older mopar guys that have told me a good tuned 440 will out do a 426. I've run several 440 an 383's no complaints here. I got fresh 440-6pk on the stand for my '71 challenger, I can't wait to get it in an fire it up. My dad, an old mopar man, says the 6pk with over 1300 cfm's will give me a kick thats hard to hold.

it will also give you a nightmare to tune the carbs properly...ive enver messed with one at all, but i see SO many guys switching from six packs to 4bbl, just for the ease of setting everything up.

That's exactly what my cousin is in process of doing on his '73 Challenger. He was running a 340 6-pack setup, and has had perpetual issues with tuning it. He's switching to a single 4 barrel this year to see if it helps.

His ran great under WOT- I drove it, and I'm convinced it would beat a lot of big-blocks. It was downright scary stomping the pedal from a dead stop. It would keep loading up and wouldn't idle worth a damn, though. Can't run 'em wide open all the time!
