Default Gas gauge doesn't work

Hey all, a question for you. My gas gauge doesn't work. I want to see if there are any trouble shooting techniques that I can do before pulling the fuel sending unit to determine if it's the unit, wiring or a faulty gauge. The rest of my instrument panel is working fine. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Rob

One biggie is the ground strap that goes on the metal to metal fuel line. The gauge will not funtion without it. Might... might not work on your problem but worth a try. Goodluck.

Traced the problem back to the sending unit. Should be an easy fix!

This one was eay enough. $63.97 from Rock Auto got me a new sending unit, 5 minutes to change it out. Didn't even have to drop the tank!
