Top Question
In 1972 you could only get 3 color vinyl tops, black, white or green.
My grandfather purchased a new 72, Sky Blue with blue top and interior, since he was at the dealership when it was taken off of the truck (took it home unpreped) we know the dealer didnt do any add ons, anyone have any insite??

RE: Top Question
Guys,
There is no such thing as never in Mopar land. There's always a car popping up that Ma Mopar "never" built.
You have one right in front of you and you have the proof. It could have been a blue car that accidentally got prepped for vinyl and they grabbed blue because it looked good. Or it could have just been an experiment that some manager wanted to try out. Is it on the Fender tag? Any specila handling tag? Build sheet?
These cars were built by humans and there were mistakes made. There were also bosses who had things to say and things to do. If they said build it, it got built. The executives didn't care what was "available".
There's no telling how it came to be but the cool part is that you have a one-of-one special car!
