Kevin, that's one of the politest, if strangest, explanations of logic I've ever seen.

Kevin, well said...sort of! I do of course agree with you. Ford has always used the easy way out to get big numbers from a motor. Sure they had some like the 428 SCJ in the late 60's Mustangs etc. and of course the 429 Interceptor but when you look at the HP numbers they were down in the mid 300's. Chyslers 383, 426 and 440's were over the 400 mark easily. Same as today. Ford cannot figure out how to put a big HP motor in a well built handling car and make it a standard production model, period. I know I will get flamed for saying this especially by the GT 500 owners or want to be owners but hey, Challenger will be a standard production car using a standard engine to develop big HP. Ford has to build a limited production car, add a blower etc. to get a big number. But, hey if thats what you want then I say go for it.

Kevin and Brucer...

There's nothing really to be flamed about here. Sure the die-hard Ford motorheads can say what they want to - but Dodge has put a magnificent motor in the Challenger (in the SRT and RT). The fact that the Dodge motors are even close to the GT 500 when it carries a blower says more sad things about Ford than Dodge. There is are so many ways to upgrade the Challengers as opposed to the GT500s, who come out of the factory with not that much more of an increase reasonably available.

Every time I hear a GT500 fanboy on here going off about the GT500s numbers I just want to say - that's an apples to oranges comparison. Compare yourself to a Challenger with a supercharger, and see where you stand. I guarantee you'll be looking at the Challengers tail lights...

Try +$20,000! Thats what my EX-Dealer try to sell me mine for. Bunch of poopy heads!!!

Searching, searching..... I've tried over 30 dealerships now in North Texas / Oklahoma today. All mostly $10-20k over.

I guess I am going to wait a few weeks and hope they come down. I dont want to pay more than +$5k. If I dont get the 08, I will be ordering an 09.

I'll be honest with ya'll,I'm payin $20k over and I really don't care.I don't have time to shop around and find a dealer who is offering one for list, and then I have to take time off work and drive it home or pay for shipping to get it to my house.I thought about waiting for an '09 when they told me but I REALLY WANT one of the numbered cars so I'll pay whatever I have to in order to get it.

Yeah, I agree with you also Kevin. What worries me is that Ford has weathered the storm with their release packages and their restructuring plans, their actually sitting the prettiest at the moment. GM and Chrysler better get with the program or they will have a hard time surviving. Basically the numbers speak for them selves, they've sold a shit load of Stangs dude. They're doing something right, right?

Sorry guy's I forgot to mention that dealerships are asking as high as 65K around here so far. How many will sell at that price is unknown, but I think they'll have to drop their prices abit to unload those 500's.

Mine is in shipping since 7/5 so I should get it soon(black w/all options). I paid $7500 over msrp at Arena Dodge in Dayton, OH. This is kinda humerous, but it is my new company car (I own a large paving company). Since it is a company car, all fuel is paid for. My partners are actually not that concerned about fuel usage as my previous vehicle was a Ford Expedition. I might actually get a little better mileage.[8D]
