I think he recalls, like me, the days when you just mashed the pedal...no EPS, no power-braking, etc.

...just a guess...

But hey, we have a new Challenger w/ a hemi, I can "learn"

I seem to remember back in the glory days of the Powerglide 2 speed auto in the big Impalas you really couldnt turn over a tire if it was to save the world. However if you put it in reverse, got the car rolling about 30 mph or so and then dropped in drive and stood on the gas, well there was a ton of tire smoke, squealing and all sorts of way cool stuff happening. That is until pieces of unrecognizable metal and aluminum chunks starting flying out from under the car and everything came to a halt!

I picked up a copy of the "New HEMI Builders Guide, 2003-Present" by Barry Kluczyk. It has a lot of good information on how to get more performance out of both the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemis'. However, one recurring theme kept raising its head.....the computer doesn't like this or new controller or tuner needed, etc, etc...........................With the new Hemi it's more electronic tuner and less screwdriver. This is not necessarly a bad thing....just different from the old performnace Mopars..........we have to remember that over thirty years seperate the new Challenger and the new (for 1970) Challenger. Everything is now controlled by computer, the new Challenger, our lives, etc.........just have to learn to work with it.

OK , to confirm ... i've been told wayyy too many answers about this.

If i'm going 5mph through a parking lot , go to N from D , Rev Up , wait for RPM's to go back down , then go back to D , this is harmful to the transmission ? I have mustangs and srt chargers reving up like this all the time next to me ... I just wanna be clear that everyone knows what i'm talking about ...

While moving I would not move from N to D or D to N.
It says in owners manual dont do this...so I dont.
When going 5 mph you can floor it and break loose....
Much more impressive than REV... [sm=gears.gif]

Rudy,
With the esp light off on console...
Press and hold the ESP button while not in motion until you hear a chime (7 seconds). Apply the brake while in drive (sitting still) and mash the gas.... when you have the wheel speed you want let go of the brake. No N to D... Just D, and if you want a longer burn... put it in 1st using the slap stick.
