It'll be interesting to see what actually happens.
Have you guys heard of other SRT8 Dodge cars being abused or taken for joy rides by dealer employees?

Are you kidding? One could write a book with all of the stories about SRT vehicles being "test driven".

For anyone who has a Challenger on order, here are some suggestion:

1. As soon as you get a VIN, maintain continuous contact with your dealer and when you find out the build/ship date stay in even closer contact. You want to find out the EXACT day that the vehicle will be delivered to the dealership, and most importantly, you want to be at the dealership that very day waiting for the truck to arrive. May this clear to your salesperson. Tell him/her that it is very importantly to you to be able to take some photos while the vehicle is still on the truck. You'll want to have the PDI done while you wait. Not "later today", not "tomorrow" not "in a couple days". This may require some pre-arrangement or a PDI "appointment". If you meet some resistance a C-note may come in handy. The point is that you want to be "near" the vehicle as much as possible, whether waiting in the lot, showroom or PDI area. IF you leave the dealership, the chances that the vehicle will go for longer test drive(s) will increase.

2. Once the vehicle is unloaded go over to it and open the door so you can take a couple interior pics. The MAIN reason for doing this is to note the mileage...

3. For the PDI, specify that you want to keep ALL of the paperwork that is in the vehicle. ALL tags, build sheets, window sticker, EVERYTHING. If you don't want the front plate installed this would be a good time to let them know. Some owners have specified a minimal PDI, in which they tell the dealer to remove the exterior protection sheets, the plastic on the steering wheel and drivers seat, and that YOU will do the rest at home. You can also tell them that you do NOT want the vehicle driven outside of the dealer lot. A PDI test drive is not mandatory. If they insist, then guess what, they're going to have a passenger riding along. You may also want to request that they do not wash the vehicle, although this makes it harder to spot imperfections, it also may save a few swirl marks.

4. When PDI is done be sure to look over the vehicle from top to bottom, front to back, inside and out. Check for any scratches, dents or other imperfections. Note the mileage, there should not have been more than a few miles added, if any.

5. When it comes time to complete the paperwork, don't get rushed and don't get caught up in the excitement. Many dealers will jump on this opportunity to add as many packs as possible to further enhance their bottom line, or to "readjust" the quoted price ("we forgot to add in advertising", or whatever). When in the finance office, do not, repeat, DO NOT add a single item or accessory whatsoever. NO paint protection, NO VIN etching, NO ant-theft whatevers, NO extended warranty, NO seat protection, etc. etc. No nothing!!!!!

I manage a Dodge dealership in southern Ohio and have asked my sales districy manager (DRM) and he has asked his boss about this event. To the best of our knowledge there is no such thing going on anywhere in the USA. In fact the cars are all still in "C" status and will be until at least March 31st is what I am told. At that time they will start the assembly lines for production.

Of course this could all change but this came directly from my DRM of sales for the Great Lakes Business Center.
