I think he means the intake manifold.

The intake manifold on the 6.1 is silver and the 5.7 is black.
This should be moved to Silver is faster thread...
Don't get mopar2ya started regarding the "black is faster"........you should know better.......

That does bring up a good question though. Which color removes heat better? You might think that the black would have a higher emmisivity and radiate heat faster. and don't think it doesn't help. Most weekend drag racers ice down the inlet manifold between runs to get more air mass into the engine.

If you watch the Powerblock they will tell you black is the better way to keep the engine cooler.

But I prefer that brushed aluminum look myself, even if it is hotter.

Any time you paint metal, it is not going to dissapate heat as well, stick with aluminum(bare)!
