Have you seen high temps when you drive the car hard? Not super high but 220 or so. I still see those temps with the 180 stat. To be sure it was not a faulty part I have changed it, and still I see high temps when driving competitive.

Since using my Predator to turn my fans on sooner, I run much cooler even with very hard driving.

Before resetting the fans, I would routinely run 215-230.

Seems like mine has run very consistantly at 215 no matter how hard I am driving it.

Just because the stat opens at 180 doesnt mean the car will run at 180. Maybe its time to look into a be cool radiator, higher volume fans or an external oil cooler. Then again, this engine was design to run hot anyway...

The more I research the more i start to wonder about the gauge.

choodock,
what menu, or where did you find a fan reset on the diablo? It might be just what I need.

You were spot on Choodock! I set the fans lower and it now runs right where I want it. Thanks for the tip!

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO LOWER THE FANS FOR THE SMALLER 5.7 HEMI MOTOR?

The SRT engineers have stated that it is common for a 6.1 to operate at up to 240 degrees.

True, but it runs so much better closer to 200. My normal operating range now is probably 195-205.

I now run between 185-195 and am happy with that. It was not the high temp, but the fear of going even higher. The more I pushed the car the higher the temp ran. Now I reset the fans and it runs without always climbing.
