Dealership Closure List
The dealership closure list is out. Frederick Dodge is one of the 800!

San Antonio's Fiesta Dodge, where I got my Challenger, is also on the list. That's a shame, as I had a very good experience there. However, it also was only a Dodge dealership. No Chrysler and/or Jeep franchise.

Palmer Dodge, Indianapolis IN on list: Best known as the dealer who drove the Indy pace car in 1971 (1971 Challenger Convertible) and crashed it on pit road when he hit the photo tower (Wonder if he had one on display in his showroom?) *Wonder if being a "Five Star" Dealer saved any of the remaining dealers? |
Where can you get complete list of closures ?
My dealer said he did not get the closure letter, but I would love to see an official listing of the unfortunate ones.:eek:

My dealer was on the list but actually closed a few weeks ago. I suppose they saw the writing on the wall.

my dealer is a not one of them on the list...thank god....i feel for all those car people.. especially when i hear some of those dealers are profitable... Obama needs to stop sending so much money out of this country and help these people and get the banks to loosen up with the auto loans.. we have so many customers who want to buy and have good credit but cant get financed this is so unfair for the buyer and the dealers. there are so many other dealers who are not on that list that are holding on by a shoe string. good luck to all of you in these trying times.....Joani

My question is:
What exactly does a dealership cost Mother Mopar? Since the Chrysler Mother Ship doesn’t “own” the dealership, what are they really saving by closing down a dealership? It would seem as if the answer is “nothing”, so why close them down? I have never owned a dealership, but it seems as if they are the ones that invest “their” money in the building, promoting (advertising), running, and updating of their individual businesses. I can perhaps see a problem with supply of product from the factory should a dealership wish to stay open, but many of the smaller dealerships also sell other brands in addition to Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep. And, I remember a dealer once telling me that his service and parts departments were the real money makers for his dealership. Can’t say I feel sorry for the dealers that tack-on “market-value” mark-ups, but if a customer doesn’t like the way a dealership does business…go down the road to the next dealer. That’s what I did while looking for my ’08 Challenger. I have always felt that if a dealer’s word means so little to them, it will have even less value to you when the chips are down. A lot of people are going to be facing hard times for one reason…”Government Involvement”. We need the market to dictate were the market will go, not the government. |
