Default First Oil Change?

My car told me to take it to the dealer with only 2,800 miles on it for an oil change
I thought the first one was supposed to be at 6k?
Anyone else?
It did it for about 200 miles and isn't nagging anymore tho.

also, hope this isn't a dumb question cuz I've never bought a new car before.
Are they included for the first 3 years by chance, or do we have to pay for them still?
just wondering

I try and change the oil in every car I have owned at 3000 miles. I changed the oil in my R/T at 2400 the first time . Because I had it in the dealer for a engine check light code. Crank sensor . That they reset . And so far no more problems. I use the Castro GTX 5W20 regular oil in my car. The dealer let's me bring it . And they change the filter and only charge for the labor. They admitted they sometime don't have the 5 W 20 recemended and use bulk 5 or 10 W 30 or 40 . As do many other dealers or change brands from time to time per suppliers. Not something I want to do . This way I know what goes in every time . I've never used the synithic oil . I'd rathter change more often . Than later.

challygirl,

Do you guys have a sister dealership on the east coast? I would love to get it done for $17.95!

Mine wanted the oil changed at 2500. I am approaching 5k and I am interested to see if it comes on at 2500 mile intervals.

I've always been a do it at 3K miles. The 6K idea is something I would not be comfortable with. It seems as though ever since these manufacturers have been listing this idea, you hear more about oil sludge problems. 3K is cheap insurance in my opinion.

Thx Joani!

I can take it to my old Mechanic for that since it costs me more then the difference driving out that far.
I will be hitting you up for the big stuff in the future after the warranty wears off for sure........8)
