Default Front License Plate

For the past several months, I have been trying to find a way to mount the front license plate on my 2009 Challenger. I have read several ideas using Velcro, suction cups, and fabricated brackets.

On another forum, I found a quick and easy way to mount the front bracket without drilling. Simply thread a long nylon cable tie (or two smaller ones locked together) through the top holes of the license plate bracket, then thread the two ends through two holes in the lower grill (evenly spaced) and lock the ties in place. The bracket will rest on the upper fiberglass bar and the top edge of the front spoiler. The bracket will not come into contact with any of the painted surface.

It is worth a try and I'll let you know how well it works.

What ever you do go to the local hardware store and buy that real thin foam seal stuff you buy to put along the window edges and doors and what not to seal them when you close them. You know, the insulation stuff with the tape on the back side? Find a real thin one like 1/4th inch and put it around the license plate from behind to keep it from scratching the car. I refuse to put my plate on ever but if Im at the DMV or get pulled over and have to tie it to the front Im glad to know that it wont scratch my bumper.

I will post photos after I use this installation method on my car.

I expect to get my SRT in 2 weeks.

NOt sure if I saw it here or another forum but someone took the stock plate bracket and turned it up side down and use the wing style anchors to secure it to the lower grill similar to how you are describing using zip ties. looked great and no holes were drilled.

I still honestly can't see the aversion to having front plates on the car. I think it looks better with the front plate. Even if Texas didn't require front plates, I'd probably have the frame mounted on it and get a fake plate of some sort. The front end looks naked without one. Just my opinion. [8D]

I guess I prefer to see the natural beauty of the nakedness of that gorgeous Challenger body in all its glory...
