GREAT PAINT & FINISHING
After two weeks of owning my 2009 R/T, I decided to super-detail the exterior of my car.
First I clayed the paint, and despite 2,000 miles riding the rails - almost nothing came off.
Then, I used a paint polymer sealant called "TFP" as a gloss finish. Really great stuff.
The factory paint on these cars is truly 1st rate. No fisheye, no orange peel, no sags, no runs.
I have owned Mercedes Benz, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus and other high dollar foreign cars - and this paint rates as good as the others.
The gaps, seams, and panel fitment are extraordinary. Great work done at the Brampton assembly plant.

What color is your car? I can see slight orange peel on the vertical surfaces on mine, but hey - it is orange.... The paint on my Mazda is better in this regard, and about equal with my Lexus. The panel fitment is very good, although I did have to adjust the hood slightly to match up with the header. I'd give them a 9.
The paint is pretty good on these cars but mine is not perfect. While detailing it, I found at least three points that look like they might have been dirt in the paint. The top has two small depressions that are not noticeable unless you are really checking hard. Mine has the sun roof, so that might have happened during that process. At the casual glance, it looks very impressive. The sides which are quite large areas are perfect.
mine wasnt the best! i had chips in the clear coat on the fender near the hood and a chip on the passenger side door , right on the edge where it meets the fender. there was a scratch in the bottom of the quarter panel that went beneath the paint. if u dont look you cant see them. and when i bought the car it was so shinny in the sun u couldnt see them. i took back for the dealer to fix and what a joke!!!!!! there painter was an idiot and tried to fix them all sub par. the fender and door may be able to be buffed out and i stress MAYBE!!!! quarter panel is minor. took to a friend and he sayed $1500 to fix but that would make it unoriginal paint. i need to stress my car will not be a garage queen and will suffer chips from road debree while on my cruises. i dont plan on this car being worth thousands in the future and just want to enjoy it. down the road ill paint. dealer said theyed look into refund or somesort from dodge , but im not holding my breath, it sucks to pay a premium and i did get hosed but i just dont want to fight with these dealerships their all crooks as we know and will say anything to sell a car and never back it up as promissed!!! i need to stress I LOVE MY CAR!!!! i just dont need a heartattack to fight the good fight! vynle
i found two chips in the paint the day I recieved it and it seems to chip off quite easy for me.
very disappointed, doesn't even measure up to most Japaneses cars I've driven, and espcially does not compare to any bmw or benz i have seen.
then again, I don't know much about paint or body stuff, and it's not really an issue to me anyways.
just my 2¢
