Default Hows your gas mileage

So I'm approching 20000 miles and I have between 19-21 in city and 25-27 on open hwy. I am real pleased with this mileage. And I often have spirited runs. Oh and my car is a 2009 R/T 6-speed. So lets hear your gas mileage stories and compare notes between the SE, R/T and SRT. Oh and one thing that bothers me is the magazine guys want to use the R/T to compare with the SS Camaro on performance but then use the gas mileage from the SRT-8 to compare. They should at least be consistant. I wonder why the SS did'nt get hit with the gas guzzler tax?

I have an SE with a lil over 10K miles and I reset my trip odometer every time I gas up specifically to calculate my milage (figure maybe it'll give me a heads up to a problem down the line). My combined milage is about 22mpg on average. Highway I've gotten as high as 29 mpg, but 27 is about normal for me. Havn't done enough actualy city driving to get a solid number but 19 is what I'm expecting

I just take the overall combined and I have been running somewhere between 16 and 16.5, which I believe isn't so bad for a 6.1. Now, I don't have the miles the Lear does as this is not a daily driver, but if it were, I'd still be happy.

I have a SRT with 1200 miles so far and get 17-18 driving 60 plus mph and always taking off aggressively. It's pure stock til my parts get here this week.

I will second the fact that the gas mileage improves with a few hundred miles on it.

Not sure if this is during your break in period still frequently changing RPMs ...etc But that obvisously will put the hurt on the MPG.

I think as the engine loosens up a bit the MPG will go up also. Thats what i would attribute it to.

mine is fairly solid 21-24 on trips....around 19 around town mixed.

i have an SE but it is my fun car so i only have 1500 miles on it
in 7 months of ownership, no highway trips yet but i have been
averaging 20 city for the amount that i have driven it, but at 1500
im not sure if it is considered to be completely broken in.

My 5.3 gets 17-18 mpg. No real mods, except exhaust. Got a blackbear tune and it is the same but the tune not expecting better mileage . I also dont take off too fast and just cruise, without my foot on the gas, alot.
