Default Modifications to newer hemi

My everyday driver is a 2004 Hemi Durango and I've been thinking about options to give it more kick. Then I start thinking about my 2008 Silver SRT Challenger's (C Status) 6.1 Hemi. The last time I looked into my 5.7 I couldn't find any informaion on performance options. The Durango has the power to pull my 5,000 lbs boat with no issues but ....do you every actually have enough power? Has anyone modified a SRT Charger or is the stock power more than enough?

Dodge doesn't recommend you pull/tow anything with the SRT8.

Bootcamp, I hope Roadrunner wasn't inquiring for any actual intent on towing w/ an SRT. I think (hope) he was inquiring about available power. That'd be like a viper with a snow plow hooked up to it, I'm sure you might be able to use it for this application, but do you really want to?

LOL
No way am I going to tow anything with the SRT. I'm looking at possible options for the 5.7 and I'm assuming that similar upgrades would improve the 6.1.

I've been told that I think to much

The towing capacity is largely due in part to the rear end. You can have a rear differential set up for towing or for speed. That's why the Jeep Grand Cherokee can tow more with the 5.7L than it can with the 6.1L. However, the 6.1L SRT-8 Grand Cherokee can go 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

Possible upgrades you could do are add a cold air intake, performance exhaust, look into an ECU reflash, and better headers just to name a few things you could do. Really they're two different animals though. The 5.7L you have is set up to tow, you would do completely different types of mods to it to get better performance out of it than you would the 6.1L on your Challenger.

And of course there's that end of the spectrum. Like a dump truck tricked out to turn 11 second 1/4's, might be possible but what do you have to haul that fast...except for a few tons of fill and whole bunch of arse!

Give the Direct Connection line a call at 888-528-HEMI, the guys can help you out with some mods for your HEMI. We are developing a lot more parts for the new generation HEMI's. Don't want the Ford's and GM's to have too much fun
