Default My 08 SRT at this years Russo & Steele Auction

Just returned from the Russo & Steele Auction where my SRT Challenger was on display. Mopars Unlimited of Arizona was invited to display club cars in front of the main gate on Sunday, and each member was given VIP Guest passes to enjoy the show. We filled the entire front area near the main entrance with Mopars ranging from a '62 Chrysler Convertible to my '08 Challenger SRT (a good mix of A-B-C, and E-bodies).
It appeared that overall prices were down from last year which is not surprising with all that's happening in the world right now. However, that didn't mean that people were not paying big bucks for some cars, such as close to 300,000.00 for a 1962 (?) Super Duty Racer with a history. Not long after that a 1968 Hemi Cuda racer (one of the 50 Hurst built) failed to pass 150,000.00 and didn't sell. It seemed as if there were a lot of really nice original Hemi and 440-6-pak E-bodies that failed to sell as their bids stopped at 45,000 to 55,000 range. A red 69 RT B-body converible with Hemi and 4-speed (one of ten built) failed to bid over 50,000 and didn't sell. And, I saw a few hand written notes on cars asking for best offer must sell-need cash...sign of the times.
A lot of money moved though Scottsdale this weekend with Russo/Steele, Barrett/Jackson, and all the other smaller auctions being held at local Casios.
Fun Weekend...(Just remember NOT to rise your hand during the auction, or you could find yourself with a new car and havin to do a lot of explaining to the other half.....)

Maybe this is a sign that sanity finally will return to pricing in the classic muscle car market. ... Nah. That's too much to hope for. Still too damn many people with more dollars than sense out there.

Forgot to mention that Chrysler was a major sponsor of the Russo/Steele Auction (At Barrett/Jackson it's all Ford), and at the main entrance there was a huge Dodge/Jeep display with the first car being a silver Challenger RT (auto). Two other SRTs (both red) were on display at the show as well.
It was neat cruising into the show behind a "built" 71 Challenger, as people would be looking at his 71 and then look at my 08...."and there's the new Challenger...that's great"...It really neat when people enjoy looking at our cars.....that's what it's all about....
