Yeah the R/T and SS price comparingly... But one major difference is performance the Camaro is going to spank the R/T and the SRT is "Super-car" of the bunch LMAO... Are you serious??? do you believe the stuff you type??? Or do you just wish it were true???
Im willing to bet the SS will take an SRT... Stock for stock Auto's... For the price of the R/T... hmmm... stings a little doesn't it... But you still have a pretty car, to get the ladies... LOL...
Dude we all thought the SS would be as much or more than the SRT... We were all really, really wrong on that one... And honestly im glad I don't have a Challenger right now... Because my right foot, Brain, and heart are all going different ways...

 

Why are people sooo up in arms about the performance # of these cars when you wont even be able to USE it to its top potential "LEGALLY" unless you all are bone stock bracket racers [sm=gears.gif] . Whats the big deal about say 300 lbs more weight and a few cubic liters. I personally want the Challenger over the Camero for its everyday Drivability. I can ride in style with an awesome looking retro car and still have room for 3 other people. I am 40 and no longer need to brag about weather my can can beat your car in an illegal street race or on a weekend at the track by say...... 0.5 seconds in a quarter mile. I think in the pure styling department Dodge got it right and Chevy went too far into the Future-retro side of things as it does look more like something out of a sci-fi movie [sm=alien.gif] then a Car show.

I picked up my 09 R/T today (after TWO waits, since my first one got backed ino a pole and I had to reorder) and I am very impressed & happy.

I'd not be so quick to extoll the performance of the new Camaro until they hit the streets and back up the claims. Dodge under estimated the performance of the SRT-8 Challengers and it does'nt mean Chevy did. It may be just what you say, until its on the streets and in the hands of those that will drag race them i'd keep a lid on it. Biting off the unproven is a snack I would avoid Now throw cost out and look at performance. Thats how it will be at the strip. 6.0 vs 6.1. Power advantage Hemi. Weight will go the Camaros way if it stays the same as now. I think its going to be a drivers race myself and I can drive As far as stinging... as a Mopar guy we have always paid a little more and for that we see very little of our siblings staring back at us. We are in the minority among muscle cars but we usually shine. These reasons you use are just the same as we had in the 70s. As you see it did'nt hurt our reps then and its not going to be a minus now. Most are after the look. Challenger has the look and thats been showed time and time again by the stories we read here. Camaro may have it too... just remains to be seen. Now I can't wait for my SRT-8 Challenger 6-speed to go and see if an SS can spank a HEMI. But I've got time, the Camaro is a ways off.

 

Thanks, Mopar2ya. I really DO like the car. Picked it up y'day AM, spent the afternoon going through the 400-page manual & trying to become familiar with how everything works and since the weather here in Pa is GORGEOUS today, I drove it to work (20 miles each way). I upgraded from a 155k mile 375 HP 69 Chevell SS and that was a nice car, but its OLD school steering & brakes etc made it pretty unrealistic to drive amidst the work day traffic here on Rt 2020 where the BMW's cut you off at the flick of a wheel, etc. But THIS car is up to it - handles well, rides well, has pickup (I have all of 40 miles on it now so I'm still going EASY on it, so I haven't WOT'd it yet). Got pulled over by a cop in my FIRST MILE of driving it home from the dealer (just so he could get a look at it). A septic tank cleaning crew stopped out in front of my house when they saw it in the driveway y'day and talked to me about it for a 1/2 hour. This car really is a standout and people like it and like to talk about it. Originally, I was thinking to make it a garage queen & just drive it on sunny Sunday afternoons and put just a few hundred miles a year on it, but I've decided the drive it a bit more than that (maybe up to a few thousand miles a year). Still let the jeep take all the rain & snow, but drive this one on sunny week days too. After DECADES of watching my bro with his 73 Challenger Rallye and MONTHS of waiting on this one, I'm finally here. V.P. Stone white R/T (and THIS time, Kowalski didn't back it off the truck and he ain't gonna get to drive it now either!).
P.S. Biggest "little surprise" so far - how the windows "crack" themselves when you open the door and "uncrack" themselves when you close the door.

I don't need to explain myself to you guy, but am willing too... an SRT is too too much 40k?? yeah right... the Camaro SS at 30 definatly I told you guy's I almost went to go get financed on a white R/T it was loaded for 33k... Well now pricing is out on the SS and it's right up my ally...
I put 12k down on my Hemi Ram 5 years ago brother sticker was 31k (The price of an SS)... When everyone here wished they had a HEMI... I always said I'd buy a car with this HEMI in it... But not at this price... It's stupid... Sorry it is... If you like it that much and want to pay for it good for you... to me .... it's stupid... I can't affored it??? I can't beleive such a clown gets under my nerves but you do... Dude look at my trade-in...LOL... I don't even think I need to trade in my truck anyway...
