New Camaro S/C 550 HP vs. Challenger?
Quick question...
Will Dodge offer a turbo/supercharge option like GM's doing with the next gen Camaro? Just saw that the new Chevy V8 is an LS3 engine with L92 cylinder heads. The Z28 engine will produce in the neighborhood of 400-450 horses, with an optional supercharged 550hp Z28 engine using a Roots-style blower.
They sure spent the bucks advertising on Transformers, lol! My wife and I just went to see the movie and of course, she's all over making plans to grab a yellow Z28. I worked in sales for Chrysler for quite awhile, and am a die-hard hemi fan. Now to work on showing her why the Challenger is the better choice

Mostly hearsay now that I'm looking at it a bit deeper. "If" they do the blower version, I bet it's a limited-run version, much like the pace-car turbo TransAm...

5th Gen
To learn about the fifth-gen Camaro we had to swear to secrecy, meaning that we would not reveal our contacts inside GM. Although the info we were given was not very specific, we are able to pass on some interesting 5th-gen information. What our sources inside GM did reveal was that the engine options for the '09 Camaro include two V6's and a few V8's. On the V8 table now is an LS3 engine with L92 cylinder heads. This engine will be installed in the Z28 and produce in the neighborhood of 400-450 horses. Additionally, there is talk about a supercharged 550hp Z28 engine with a Roots-style blower. Which ever generation Camaro you love, we can promise you that there will always be more driving fun ahead. CHP

i am familiar with the people who run camaro5, and I would like to point out that it is NOT a credible source of information.
they cannot provide any real source of proof behind this..."we cannot say who told us"....who told them? their desire to get people to link them all over the net..thats who...

That has to be a rumor... it just seems that it would cost too much to build a car with 550hp that could handle all that power and be sensibly priced. But i guess if you put some skinney little old tires on it like the 68 vette then one wouild just go around buring off their tires.

Yes but also rummors of the new mercedes gullwing having 750-1000 hp and the new corvette c-7 having 700-750 hp makes one wonder if just maybe. Also the G-force 71 Cuda built by Johnson's Hot Rod Shop with 870 Hp means almost anything is possible.

RE: New Camaro S/C 550 HP vs. Challenger?
Remember when the concept GT500 Shelby hit the shows stating 450 hp? By the time they produced it we were looking at 500 hp. Now, the KR version has 540 hp with limited edition SuperSnakes putting out 600-725 hp. I HIGHLY DOUBT that The General will stop at 400-450 hp for a car that is stirring up nearly as much of a comotion as the Challenger. And if Dodge and The General stop at, say, 450 hp, I guess Ford is the new KING of the HILL. I suppose we can just sit back and let this happen, right? I DOUBT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: New Camaro S/C 550 HP vs. Challenger?
As in the threat of the new Vette with the supercharger. Mopar performance has added enough bolt ons to the new Viper to push it to 685 HP.All you need to do is pick up a catalog and order. That way they have the answer for the Supercharged Vette for those who will need a little more pony power. The same can and more than liklely will be said for the Challenger. Chrysler has a good performance program and will cotinue in the future. But if you ask me... GM blinks first if they have to pressurize their engines to keep up. Ala Ford. So lets just wait and see.
