OIL CHANGE MESSAGE.
I rolled over 2500 miles on my car yesterday and the first time I started it after that, the EVIC gave me the Change Oil Message and chime. The owners manual says that the oil should be changed in the next 500 miles after getting the message the first time. Also, the message and chime will occur after each start until the service is performed. I was wondering if anyone else received the message this soon. It says that the oil change is decided by driving styles not by the amount of miles or time. I normally change oil every 3000 miles. I was just wondering if this was about normal for what others are seeing. Also, the manual says that whoever does the service should reset the message by turning on the ignition without starting the car and slowly depressing the accelerator three times and then shutting off the ignition.

broke mine in real nice and hard
changed at 2k before message
then 3 days after the service the message came on.
i figured they forgot to reset it
so i just igbored it for amonth and when i got my exhaust put on we disconnected the battery and it went away.

Supposedly the computer monitors driving style and advises accordingly. Based on that, we can deduce that raj1980, rickerda and you drive your grandmother and you drive yours like it's stolen.
Trev, somehow I managed not to get electrocuted when I changed my exhaust without disconnecting the battery. Lucky I guess.

Yea I drive like grandma haha.... I drive 100 mile all highway round trip to work 5 days a week, so I am sittin back relaxin.
I like to tear it up at traffic lights though
