Tell me more about this 1970-model badging
ORIGINAL: RoswellGrey

The Challenger should say DODGE on the hood. Mine will, by the time I get done with it. Have I mentioned my 1970-model badging previously?

RoswellGrey, Would you put the CHALLENGER logo on the tailight instead of on the pillar, or would you keep it in is current location. The Ram head doesnt intrigue nor bother me, but I can understand people wanting a more vintage look.

1970 model badging sequence:

Center front of hood: DODGE letters. (I think on the '08 model, though, the lettering would have to go in front of the hood itself. You'll recall that on the original Challengers, the front of the hood actually was the front of the car. There was nothing in front of the hood.)

Left side of grille (or to the right, as you face it from the front of the car): Script Challenger logo, R/T badge to the right of and slightly below it. (Admittedly, I don't know how well the Challenger badge would work on the '08 grille, considering its faux-chrome insets.)

Front fenders, behind the wheelwell: Script Challenger logo above the little shelf formed by the bend in the metal (on the '71, it goes below the bend), R/T insignia below the bend. Near the bottom of the fender is the Chrysler Corp. logo.

Trunk lid: Script Challenger logo with the R/T insignia to the right of it in the lower right-hand corner of the lid (or, oddly, the lower right-hand corner of the trunk lid as you face it from the rear of the car ). If the car has the R/T stripe across the back end (which I think was the more common stripe in 1970 -- I never saw an R/T strip on the side when the cars were new till the '71 came out), the Challenger logo and R/T badge are inside the stripe.

At least the '08 model says DODGE in the middle of the taillight. Of course, on the '70 model, this was where the backup light was located.

If anyone else is interested in doing this, there are several web sites where the appropriate badges are available. Needless to say, they aren't cheap. The little Chrysler Corp. insignias alone go for $15 to $25 each and the R/T insignias run from about $45 to $65. (But when you're talking about a $30,000+ car....) Fortunately, I already have everything I need.
