George Barriss created a 625 hp custom Challenger. You can buy it for only $150,000. Any takers?

Yay for the power, no thanks on the appearance package. I really hate that hood.
Sacrilegious for me to question the taste of two such esteemed automotive minds? Sure, but I gotta call em like I see em.

All I can say is........What has happened to the innovative customizer who set trends in the 50's and 60's with such cars as the Batmobile, the Munster Koach, Golden Sahara, Ala Kart, Kopper Kart, the Fireball 500, just to name a few? And, if this latest "tackie" example of his work isn't enough to make you wonder what happened to Barris....he has taken credit for cars he didn't actually create. By buying the "rights" to several very popular customs that he had no part with. Contrary to some opinions, Barris had nothing to do with the De Lorean time machine from the Back to the Future movie series. There had been such speculation over the years, especially since a couple of De Loreans actually were customized by Barris' workshop. In 2004, though, Bob Gale at the De Lorean Car Show went on record and said that George Barris had no part in the design of the De Lorean in Back to the Future. Barris has also claimed to have built, or had a large hand in designing and customising Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, the Monkeemobile (in truth, designed by Dean Jeffries), the Black Beauty (also built by Jeffries) from The Green Hornet. He even when on TV talking about the Monkeemobile and it's features...(He did repaint the car, but he didn't build it!) And, with the new "Green Hornet" movie coming out, it will be interesting to see what credit he takes for the car.
Sad.............
(As a side note I owned a 1969 Charger RT/SE that had a half vinyl top installed by Barris before he painted it, get this..."Dukes" orange..and this was long before the Duke Boys! I actually still have the vinyl top trim and the Barris fender emblems)

Those are... I can't find a word that explains how awful that looks. Shame. What a waste of paint and talent. Sorry just shear awful. I believe little kids would have nightmares after seeing those.

^ the buyer is obviously a collector and either bought it based on the builders name, or did us a HUGE favor to get that eyesore of the streets.
not to say the car is all terrible, not my taste, there was thought put into the design so don't get me wrong, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
