RE: Sales
no the 5.7 (trim level designation still being decided) base price 29,970. now this information was uncharacteristically given to us way in advance in preparation for pricing and ordering, so don't be surprised if more surprises are on the way. AllPar says the new hemi crate will not be offered the first year, I think based on whispers it will be late availability.

What I have been told is that the challenger srt8 will only come in a 6.1 hemi with a 6spd manual. The great news is that we were told that the base price would be $37,420, there will also be 3 srt option groups just like the charger. I am in Fort Wayne, IN fwi. Also, there will be no 3.5L v6 right away, just a 5.7L and 6.1 in the srt. Plans are according to our district manger is to release a base level with a 4.0 (same motor as nitro) in 2-3 years to increase volume.

Are you sure the 6.1 will be the SRT engine? I was told about a month ago that the first Challengers released would be Challenger R/Ts with 5.7 MDS / Automatic Transmissions, followed by Challenger R/Ts with 6.1 / Manual Transmissions. Also was told the SRT8 would be released as a 2009 model with a "larger" Hemi... Info is from a Dodge salesman who chatted with a district rep...
Lots of conflicting information, even from "Dr Z" replies...
Thanks again for any & all info!

allpar also isnt an authority, by any stretch...
but i would be very pleased with 37 grand...would that be retail, or dealer cost? im hoping retail...as we have a connection of sorts to get around the markup...
i find it odd that a district rep would be loose lipped about anything...when i worked for dodge, i was constantly bugging our reps about things, and they never gave away any info...and i was an accountant for several dealerships.

RE: Sales
As far as I have been told (by very good and very reliable sources) the 5.7 (automatic) and 6.1 (manual only) will be offered in year 1 (production no more than 40,000), with a new platform (maybe LY or maybe a new variant) and new engines (direct injected is a possibility-more efficient powerplants and more choices for all the rear drive platforms) in year 2.
Pricing will be $35,000.00 for the 5.7 loaded up and $40,000.00 for the 6.1 loaded up, loaded up I was told means DVD Navigation, total power group, bluetooth enabled and everything DCX can think of to add to the car, hood scoops may not fly and the 22" tires may not fly either, I will know more later this fall.
Again much is still up in the air.

None of this is confirmed. I'm a bit sceptical but I appreciate all this information. The rumor mill is at 100% operational efficiency right now. We really need Dodge to release some information.
