Will the Challenger win the Concept Car of the Year?
" ATLANTA, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The semi-finalists in the fifth
annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards were announced
this evening during a ceremony at the Atlanta International Auto Show.
Professional automotive journalists from throughout North America,
representing dozens of outlets in virtually every media segment serve as
volunteer jurors to select the award winners. The jury panel is assembled
by peer selection, and the jurors do not pay or get paid to participate.
Originated in 2002 by SEAMO, the North American Concept Vehicle of the
Year Awards recognize those concept vehicles that have made the strongest
impact in terms of automotive design, engineering and market
responsiveness. The awards are given to the best Production Preview

Significant Concept Vehicle of each auto show season. To be eligible for
the awards, a concept vehicle must make its North American debut during the
current model year's auto show season.
The awards for the four category finalists, and the overall award for
the 2006 Most Significant Concept Vehicle of the Year, will be presented
during June in Detroit, Michigan.
From a total field of 25 Concept Vehicles and 12 Production Preview

RE: Will the Challenger win the Concept Car of the Year?
It will win where it matters...in the marketplace (and most importantly in my garage!)
I think sometimes they give awards for this stuff based on how far from normal a concept car looks. That Camaro looks like some kind of mutation to me & might win for shock value. I could care less...

My general impression is the Dodge Challenger looked awesome from Day 1 but the Camaro took a little time for everybody to warm up to it.
To me you have to look for likeness of it from the original Camaro but their is no questioning where the Challenger came from
I liked the Camaro much better when I saw it at the Dallas Auto show, but I have to admit when I saw the Challenger I was awe struck.

GM is having some trouble look for them to win the concept section to create some excitement, then it is off to Nascar for the Camaro and the Challenger to create more excitement

RE: Will the Challenger win the Concept Car of the Year?
There was an article in Autoweek saying that NASCAR IS considering just this thing for the Busch series. Pony car bodies to bring more interest to this division and to make it less desirable for the Nextel cup boys to step down to gather info on the track and setup for the following day since the info would be largely useless with the large differences in the cars this would create.
