Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
Challenger Factory Delivery Program
I would call this fictitious delivery program CH8 (Challenger Hemi 8 cyl.) Chevrolet offers its Corvette buyers a factory option (R8C) of picking up their brand new corvette at the Bowling Green, Kentucky factory. Wouldn't it be a great idea if DCX would also offer its prospective Challenger owners the option of picking up your new Challenger at the Brampton, Ontario plant. Tour the factory, perhaps watch your Challenger being built, and meet the guys buiding your Challenger. Then spend a few days in cosmopolitan Toronto, catch a theatre show, do dinner in the multicultural city and visit its many tourist sites. CN Tower, Eaton Centre, shop Bloor st; Center Island, catch a professional sport ( Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Raptors, Argos) . Then take a lovely cruise to your home state/province. I would definitely sign up for it and I live 30 minutes from the Brampton factory. Here is a couple of links describing Vette owners experience in the factory delivery program. FYI, they have a buyers tour which is not included in the R8C museum delivery option, for additional $350 bucks. If I were picking up a new car, I would spring for it. http://store.corvettemuseum.com/services/buyertour.asp A second link describes and shows some photos of Corvette owners picking up their cars in Bowling Green. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ctory+delivery So, what's your opinion guys and gals. Would you pay a little extra to come see and pick up your brand new Challenger at the factory?[sm=feedback.gif] |
RE: Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
I would love to do that as I love Toronto and have been to eat at the CN Tower 4 times and watch a BlueJay game. Meeting the Challenger builders would be cool too.
I the end I would still have them ship it down because I do not want to put all of those miles getting back to Texas. |
RE: Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
My sister's friend had a chance to go watch her volvo built in Europe, she really enjoyed it and was able to plan a mini vacation around her trip.

RE: Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
For sure! I would pick it up just so the dealer doesn't touch it :)

Jeremiah,
it sure is a LONG way to Texas. However, I would volunteer my time, take a week off work, and kindly drive your Challenger to Texas. I would ask Rob, who lives in Toronto, if he would like to tag along for company. We would promise to take real good care of it and promise not to drive through the state of Montana. RE: Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
Sounds cool. There is a similar program w/ BMW called The Euro Delivery. The big issue w/it though is our break-in is 1200 miles. W/in the 1200 miles there is no fuking around at ALL. Shift below 4500 RPM , keep it under 100 mph, no long dist driving so what fun would the Autobahn be w/these rules on ya.

RE: Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
I won a Magnum R/T in 2005, a month before they even hit the dealers. First 600 miles or whatever they said to take it easy I had to make sure wife and kids were with me to keep me honest. Then I immediately got a speeding ticket for doing 93 in a 65 which is another story. Wife WAS in car w/me on way to shore and had no idea I was going that fast until the officer said he was cutting me a break because he 'clocked' me at 97mph. Anything over 30mph over speed limit, requires court and class. Then he says, 'I already wrote ticket but I gotta ask: I was just getting the gun on you and your front end dipped pretty good so what were you really doing 115ish?...Then of course we got out and spent 20 minutes checking out car cause he never saw one and was loving it...Will it be Deja Vu next year with Challenger? I'll be asking Santa for some radar!

RE: Wishful Thinking: Challenger Plant Pick-up Program
freehemi,
boy, I'm having Deja vu also![sm=gears.gif][sm=gears.gif][sm=gears.gif] My story involved a FRC Corvette on a deserted street with nary a soul in sight!...that is my sight.....except for the Black&White tuckered into the corner gasoline station just waiting for ........ Anyways, my wife gave me an earful for quite a while, my wallet has relieved on its heft, and I got some free points from the provincial traffic board!! Anyhows....I've learnt my lesson and by boy racer days are over! BTW, on next years Santas list you should add a second item next to that radar detector. I remember reading recently that the U.S. airforce is decomissioning the Stealth fighter planes.....get my drift. Gotta getcha some of that radar-defeating secret formula material to bolt to the front of your Challenger.[sm=ts.gif] |
