A supercharger uses about 50% of the power it creates doesn't it?

Whatever forget everything with tuners out there nothing is better than superchargeing. And from what ford is proving it can be reliable and affordable.
Yeah GT500 is a name not a horsepower rating fellas.
Drop weight take the back seat out. u don't need that too much if your racing around.

I always thought supercharging a vehicle was pretty much a certain way to use it's productive live up much more quickly. Is this not the case?

What was that ford used in racing over in england that produced something like 600 hp from a 2 litre 4 but the engine was good for only one race?

DamnSkippy - are you thinking of the Ford Cosworth YB block? As used in early Escort RS Cosworth's. They were 4 - cylinder 2ltr blocks used in both racing and production cars. They were often turbo'd i never heard of them being supercharged though it would not surprise me. The YB is known for being quite a rugged engine but as with a lot of race engines they would be rebuilt after each race. The production engine is known for being able to handle 500hp on stock internals

FYI- The GT500 got it's name because it was 500 more pounds thatn the GT350.

10% no!! i don't think so superchargers generate a lot more power than 10% from stock. Man 10% is more like a cold air induction kit or a new computer. It's prolly closer to like 33% or a good 2/5ths

I believe you misunderstood him. He is asking what is the parasitic power drain on a engine from a supercharger.
