Motor Trend seems to hint that GM will use the 6.2L Caddy engine for the Z28 model and the 7.0 Z06 engine for the SS model. I think this would be a bad idea. Giving the Camaro a better beginning V8 than the Corvette comes with standard and offering the same top engine will be a lot worse than what they did back in 98-02 it will kill Corvette sales. They need a model to compete with the Mustang GT with price and insurance, that was one of there old mistakes. I have already mentioned earlier about what I thought the line-up should offer 3.8L (base), 5.3L (Z28), 6.0L (SS) What do you think?

 

All of this muscle car discussion reminds me of back in the day when we got into arguments about who was faster than whom,
so we just got in our cars and went to the backroads to find out.

History is truly repeating itself. What is next 8-tracks and CB's in the car......probably not that was 1976. LOL!

 

i would be REALLY surprised to see the camaro with the LS7, for the same reason that the camaro came to an end and for the same reason that the challenger probably wont have the 6.4L.

if GM builds an LS7 camaro, it is going to be much stronger than the base model vette, and depending on the weight, it will be comparable to the Z06. GM ended the f-bodies because (among other reasons) their flagship vette was losing sales to the cheaper camaro and firebird. there is SO much interest surrounding the new vette, unless they have a much stronger engine planned, they would never dare to take sales away from their $70g+ supercar, unless they were going to charge a similar price for the camaro, and with the trouble that GM is in, they cant risk any inter-corp competition.

 

Thats what I thought. I think the writers of Motor Trend are smoking on something they got from South America.
