Speaking of rumors, it's now been stated in several places- and I'm not sure where it originated, but I've heard it from multiple sources- that the Challenger is now supposedly NOT going to be available with a manual tranny? Anybody else heard this one? It's in direct contradiction to the initial production announcement, but I've heard it enough to make me worried.

 

Best not be the case! That blows.

 

I think that rumor is highly unlikely. Not when the concept is touted so highly as being a manual transmission muscle car. We'll have our choice of trannies I believe.

 

That is why I didn't even bother seeing what kind of deal I could get with the Charger R/T.

 

Relax all and let this thing run the process. I think we will most if not all be pleased at what comes off the line.

 

I truly hope that the rumors of the Challenger NOT having a 6 speed manual is WRONG...

However, IF it is true that DODGE looses there common sence and does not put a manual tranny in the Challenger, I DO hope that they will at a minimum, at LEAST put the AUTOSTICK tranny in it cause at least that would be better than no manual at all...

 

I thought that the 6-speed was supposed to be confirmed as well as a 6.1L HEMI.

 

That was what the original announcement stated..... but I've heard this, as an albeit unsubstantiated rumor so far, on several other sites.... so I just wanted to pass that along, and see what anyone else had heard.

 

Well I would tend to believe that the original announcement would be more reliable than what a few sites say. For example, when the Charger was supposed to come out, Edmunds claimed it would have a manual option. I believe it was either Motor Trend or Car and Driver who claim an SRT-8 model would NOT be made available on the Charger, and they were obviously wrong. Don't worry about it, it is probably just a rumor, in other words, a lie made up by someone who wanted some attention.

 

I would say let's just ride it out like Paladin06 suggested unless we hear something solid.
