Chrysler selling the Viper?

Chrysler selling the Viper?
We just received an employee memo from Bob Nardelli stating that the company has been approached by an outside company that wants to buy the Viper. Chrysler will listen and make a decision in an unspecified amount of time. The breakup of this company is underway.

RE: Chrysler selling the Viper?
To tell you the truth, I have never figured out why Dodge sells the Viper anyway. Vipers have been made for, I guess, 10 years now, and I have only ever seen three (counting the one that was in the showroom when I ordered my Challenger). Obviously there is not a huge market for them, and at $92K, I doubt too many people who are willing to spend that kind of money for a car would even consider something stamped DODGE. Chrysler would be better off to make the Challenger SRT Dodge's top-of-the-line model and concentrate on building small, fuel-efficient cars (NOT the Caliber, as its highway mileage is not all that great). Say what you will about the "K cars," but they are what saved the corporation back in the 1970s.

I see Vipers all the time.Microsoft money is all around.
As for the K car our company had about 6 through the years and they
went 300k miles no problems. Not even a clutch.
I refer to Challenger as the KY car cause of the way the greedy dealers are.

Yeah i've seen plenty of Vipers over the years... I heard about two years ago I guess that they weren't making any profit off the Viper anymore and that it was evident that the project would be scraped... Makes more sense to sell the car I guess...
Dodge has always been bigger and better so it's hard to say bye to the Viper but I guess it's been in the cards for a while now...

Vipers are built 6 per day. By hand with no assembly line robots. Every engine is started and tuned prior to install. You can buy a Viper and pick it up at the plant while you meet people who built it....
All that being said... the things were not even comfortable to drive until the last couple of years. I bought my first Viper in Washington, shipped it up to Alaska and drove it for 6 months and sold it for more then I paid for a new one 2 years later.
No matter who bought it, it would still be remembered as a Dodge. An odd car for Dodge, but a Dodge all the same.

No,
I did heavy equipment training in WA for 6 months, but never really called it home. Born in Jersey, Lived in Southern Cali by the time I was 3 and ran away from home at 16 and hitched to Alaska. 22 years later I was ready to come back to California, so I sold my NorthWest Converter division to my partner and moved EDGE in with my West Coast Converter division. Wow... my life in 3 lines....

I have seen tons of them too. I think this is crazy how hard would it be for them to design a copy of it. All of the auto companys steal from each other all the time.
