RE: Concept Dodge ZEO

I agree tyhat with current technology for most of us electric cars are impractical but there was actually just a recent break through in battery life.

Yes i know this is with lap top batteries but it just shows there is still alot more room for advancement in battery life. Maybe 20 years from now we might be able to drive across the country and only have to charge the battery afterwards for 20 minutes...

Just have to make the electricity. Build more Nuclear, coal and hydroelectrics along with solar and wind to supply all the juice for the new vehicles. Same problem with Hydrogen, lots of H20, but requires electrolysis to break the ionic bond between Hydrogen and oxygen. I do like E85, but need to grow sugar beets and sugar cane instead of corn due to the high sugar content which yields a hell of a lot more Eth.

The other problem with going to electric cars is that you put further dependence on an energy source that is hardly overflowing with an abundant supply, granted electricity can be generated through more sources like the gigantic three-bladed windmills that are popping up everywhere where I was going to college, nuclear, coal, water dams, solar, etc. My concern is it would make powering our houses and computers more insanely expensive to run. Another problem is when you have ice storms that knock out the power for a week, then your really up a creek.

I agree with the fact that moving to any of these technologies shifts the pollutants in another way. Sure not from cars, but into coal fired or nuclear plants to generate the power to turn these other products into energy, be it corn, sugar beats, sugar cane, h2o, or whatever. Granted dependence on oil diminishes, but its not saving the environment as they would like. Although, Nuclear itself is not a pollutant and is a very viable energy sourse if used, you just get the leftover waste for a couple of thousand years.

Multi facet approach, mate a photovoltaic covered car w/ a sterling and a good old fashioned MOPAR Turbine power plant, and throw any combustable fuel into that puppy, have the turbine power a elecetric, photo-v's produce electric and sterling producing electric and you're golden greenish.
