I saw Casino Royale Last Night
I saw Casino Royale Last Night and I will say I was impressed. I liked Daniel Craig's protrayal way better than Pierce Brosnan. He seemed less arrogant and less pompus. It had a few twists that I was able to predict but then some others I wasn't able to figure out.
The only thing I didn't like is his car wasn't really that special, in terms of it didn't have any weapons on the exterior or extremely special devises. Also there wasn't a huge car chase like there was in "Tomorrow Never Dies."
Good overall.

RE: I saw Casino Royale Last Night
I saw it during Thanksgiving and it seemed to be more realistic than previous movies. I think Daniel did a better job than Pierce.
Interesting how they showed how he became an agent but in today's time. That was a twist for me and also driving the old Aston DB9 then
driving a modern car confused me.

RE: I saw Casino Royale Last Night
That's what I thought. James Bond seemed more like a real person in this movie and not like an actor who could show off because this is a movie and not real life. I also like how they addressed his short comings as an individual in this. He has to fail for a long time before he begins to succeed. More realistic.
I also liked them showing us how he became an agent in the modern world. I also like that they were willing to show a bond who didn't have "perfect hair" for a change. I really got tired of him looking like he never ages throughout the years. I also like how in this one we actually know what happens to the girl. It seems silly that they always end the movie with him and the girl making out or worse, and you never find out why the two aren't still together in the next movie.
In short, it's nice to have a change once in awhile so then it isn't so predictable and a repeat of the previous movie(s).

RE: I saw Casino Royale Last Night
No offense but you are missing the point of James Bond movies. He is not supposed to be a normal person. He is a super agent that takes on super villains. He always wins at cards and always gets the hot girl in the end. He always is near the brink of death and yet somehow manages to narrowly escape using a gadget and his super intellect. Oh, and by the way his hair is always supposed to be perfect too.
I am not trying to beat on you but that's the formula of a James Bond movie. I haven't seen this one yet & maybe it's a good flick.

most of you guys really summarized the movie already... personally I ain't a Bond fan, but is one of those movies you ougtha go and see... as we walked out of the theather I told my wife that I liked the fact that the caracther was more down to earth... that he can fail...
It become kind of notorious that he was to supposed to get the girl ALWAYS, get out of the trap ALWAYS, suffer just a little bit in any torture situation ...
I appreciate so much they decided to show that side... a human sid....his expression when he lost on the cards the 1st time when he misinterpretate the opponnents bloff was non expected.... as well the beat he received while he was gettin tortured (I was thinkin "from where is gonna pull out his laser beam to release himself?... he's naked!).
Nice movie

Sorry you don't get Bond movies & obviously you can like what you like. Just to remind you in Die Another Day (with Hallie Berry...mmmmmm) JB was in a North Korean cell being tortured and stung by Scorpions...I think that qualifies as more than a little bit of pain. I am something of an amateur writer (trying to go pro) and I pay attention to the constructs of story telling (whether written or played out in a movie). Bond movies (over the years) guaranteed their fans the same formula & that's why people love them. To complain that he ALWAYS gets the girl or ALWAYS get out of the trap is to deny the formula. I for one don't want to see a Bond that fails with women or against the bad guy...that's not Bond.

Dude! The CR movie was awesome! I personally think that this new bond was closer to a Sean Connery Bond. I thought it was great that this Bond could be a realistic character, and not the plastic "My-hair-is-perfect, and I am always clean" Pierce Brosnan Bond. Aw Sure, take the kids to it, its a great flick! There is a brand new theater off of Dobson and the 202 that was just built. The missus and myself like to go there all the time!

awsure.........while I agree with your movie formula comment, my point is that they have kinda gotten worse with various actors:
Sean Connery
George Lazenby
Roger Moore
Timothy Dalton
Pierce Brosnan
Daniel Craig
I think Daniel has gotten back closer to what Sean Connery was which is my all time favorite Bond actor. Connery was believable.
George was so arrogant, they didn't keep him around very long (Her Majesty's Secret Service - where his wife gets killed).
Roger was just so goofy.....he did a better job as Simon Templar in The Saint.
Timothy Dalton was okay but short lived and Pierce Brosnan was just a pretty boy and not always believable.
I think Daniel is believable but cool enough to pull it off and might go down as one of the better Bonds.
Another one of my favorite spy movies is Bourne Identity. Matt Damon is believable, but his movie has a different formula.

RE: I saw Casino Royale Last Night
Awsure, the formula isn't completely changed, it is just modified a little. In this movie, I think he is seen as more heroic. Even after he has been threaten to lose something very valuable and the thought of losing the girl, he still refuses to give into the villans demands.
My reference to him not having perfect hair is partically a statement of irritation that I heard a long time ago they dropped Sean Connery because he was turning gray. As the others have said, Sean did a better job than all the others did. It is better to have Bond without perfect hair, than to have a Bond protrayed with a terrible actor.
I also happen to do writing of my own and I will tell you sometimes it is good to have a change happen so then the audience doesn't get bored. After seeing that James doesn't win 100% of the time without a struggle first, doesn't it keep you more on the edge of your seat? Also I enjoyed seeing James get a little what he had coming to him for a long time (his pride gets hurt), it shows him grow more as a person. If you can connect with him more, it makes it more interesting.
Just watch it, I think you will like it.
Jeremiah: I also like the Bourne series. They are more interesting that he has to keep doing this stuff without all the gadgets that James Bond gets.
