72 VWBug - Cheap
89 Ford Escort - Commuter
93 Ford Ranger - Reliable
96 Dodge Ram 4x4 - Awesome
00 Nissan Crew Cab 4x4 - small
01 Chevy Siverado 5.3 - poopy
04 Dodge Neon - Destroyed
90 FOrd Ranger - Inherited

99 - Yamaha FZR 600 - first
04 - Triumph Daytona 955i- FUN

It is hard to come up with one word phrases to get teh full aprriciation of what I want to say about them. For instance the 90 Ranger. Great truck, was free and came to me just in time. The neon was destroyed 2 weeks before. If it wasn't for that, I would be have been screwed.

ORIGINAL: BadStratRT

wow..you get exception mileage...the best ive gotten in the stratus is "nearing" 30...on the highway

is your car governed?
Never tested it, but from what I read and talked to friends who own them, they are governed at around 116 mph. Part of the reason why I get good mileage is the fact that I live in a very rural area and I can accelerate with ease. I drive like this because I'm on a tight budget right now with going to college, and I can't afford to put on new tires very often, nor can I afford to fix parts on it and pay the high gas bill. The friends I have that have these 3.5L powered Intrepids get mileage around what I get. The tachometer stays under 2k rpms at all times, including acceleration. I tested out different fuel stations (BP, Mobile, Conoco, Phillips 66, Casey's, F/S, MFA Oil). I found that I got the best results with F/S and MFA Oil, and found that I got the worst results from Casey's. The K&N added somewhere around 2-3 mpg for my car, however it varies from one vehicle to another what results you will get.

Most of these roads are pretty flat, at least flat enough that the torque converter doesn't unlock, nor shift out of overdrive. It runs at about 1600 rpms at 55 mph, 1750 rpms at 60 mph, 1900 rpms at 65mph, 2100 rpms at 70mph which are my normal cruising speeds. After I get out of college and get a good paying job, I'm going to get a more powerful car, hopefully a Challenger with a HEMI to make up for all the fun I have missed out on. Don't get me wrong, I still have my fun like beating Honda Civics, older Mustang V6, F-body V6, and cars driven by people with a bigger ego than a brain to know my "family sedan" can kick their butts in acceleration. I love that expression they have on their face when I beat them. Of course, I pay for it later at the gas pump.

1996 Olds Ciera-JUNK
1997 Dodge Intrepid-trustworthy

Are you sure you don't want to know some of the cars I've driven and have not owned? I had a relative that had a good chunk of money for a while. The Intrepid has currently 131,XXX miles and gets around 27-29 combo of city and highway 32-36 pure highway driving, thanks to 90% gas and 10% Ethanol from MFA Oil and a K&N air filter. It has good acceleration. Have taught a few V6 Mustang and F-car owners a lesson.
Fill us in on the "driven" cars. Sounds on the surface like you might have some interesting ones to tell about.

Okay maybe I should rephase that as one car I have driven which is interesting. My aunt had leased a 1999 Mercedes SL500 convertible. It had a 5.0L 24valve SOHC V8 (3 valves per cylinder). It was a fun, but uncomfortable car. Cornered very good and had plenty of power, just no cushion in the seats nor any leg room. She let me drive it a few times. The only other interesting ones she has is a Nissan Altima 3.5L V6 and a '71 Pinto that my grandfather transformed into a trolley car for parades (it looks nothing like a Pinto it looks very different, if I get the chance over spring break, I'll scan the pictures and post them). It is gutless of course but it is truely unique.

To sum it up in one word I will say:

1999 Mercedes SL500: overpriced
2005 Nissan Altima: acceleration
1971 Ford Pinto (Trolley car): OUGA!!!

It is a neat thing to experience but I would never own one no matter if I became rich. Too uncomfortable for the money and there are more comfortable cars with better acceleration that cost much less.

Rasonjason92, after I posted I noted your Scout. Do you still have it? It was listed pretty early, I bet it's gone. I still have my 1975! Maybe it will run soon.
