Default Major Competition!

The June 2010 issue of Car & Driver tested the new V8 and V6 Mustangs and Camaros with impressive results. Here are the times:

Camaro SS (426 hp): 0-60= 4.6; 1/4= 13.0@111; top speed= 157

Camaro RS (304 hp)= 0-60= 5.9; 1/4= 14.5@99; top speed= 157

Mustang GT (412 hp)= 0-60= 4.6; 1/4= 13.2@109; top speed= 146

Mustang (305 hp)= 0-60= 5.4; 1/4= 14.0@104; top speed= 113

The June issue of Motor Trend confirmed the Mustang's super performance figures:

Mustang GT (412 hp)= 0-60= 4.3; 1/4= 12.8@110.8; Mileage= 19/29 6-speed manual

Mustang (305 hp)= 0-60= 5.1; 1/4= 13.7@102; Mileage= 17/26 6-speed manual

Its always nice to see numbers like that. It means we are going in the right direction. I wish they would of posted the gas mileage also, I bet its better too. You have to love the time we live in, I also remember the first Pony car wars. This one gives us everythingX10. I remember the Challenger and Cuda being a little more pricier in those days also. After reading the Gen 5 Camaro blogs I have to wonder if the Chevies were built a little too cheap and the Dodges not overpriced. Seems they have issues with paint and fit. I guess my mother was right you get what pay for. The GM guys seem to stop looking when they get the HP #s and think thats a wrap. But a nice long lasting paint job and body panels that fit rank high on my list. As far as interior goes Dodge and Chevy will be updating theirs as the next model year comes out. Remeber Mustangs interior from 2 years ago and look at them now. Really nice looking car on the inside. I also hope Dodge gives the R/T a nice look as the SRT-8s under the hood. Mustang looks nice and SRT-8 the best looking under the hood in my opinion. R/T and SS need help in the looks dept.
