The Simpson's Movie: Your Rating

I saw the new Simpson movie. Overall, I was impressed. I plan on watching it a second time (which is something rare for me to do). There were scenes I could have done without, but I thought it was very good. What did you think? (Note: Please do not spoil it for those who are thinking about seeing it)

Haven't seen it. Probably won't go to the theatre to see it. I will wait until it hits the cable movie channels.

I went to it this past week-end, loved it... ...BUT I love the Simpsons. My wife would not go with me, she hates the Simpsons, so I took my daughter -- and she loved it also. I do think you have to be a Simpson's fan. IF you don't like them on TV, you won't like the movie. If you like them on TV, you will love the movie....

That is very much the truth. I was quite impressed that they didn't add very much crude humor, just two to three brief crude jokes they would probably not be allow to do on the Fox Network.

I find the average episode of Family Guy to be loaded with a lot more crude jokes in 22 minuets than an hour and a half of the PG-13 rated movie. Not many cheap jokes, but full of original and signature Simpson running gags. This is one of the few movies based off of a popular cartoon in production that was done correctly.

I am too recently, but when it first came out, I wasn't interested in it. But my friend said to give it a try again. So TOON channels replays all the older episodes so I have been watching them. Very funny, I can't believe I missed it. I love the Brian the talking dog. Intelligent but still has the dog quarks. Especially the one episode where the wife takes him for a ride in the car. He is all talking intelligently, then gets all exited about the other dog in the other car. I was rolling. But you probably have to see it to understand.

I use to watch the Simpsons all the time. I am sure I would like the money, but I just don't want to spend the $10 bucks to see it. And deal with people. For me to see a flick at the theatre, it has to be something that REALLY peaks my interest.

And about the crude jokes, I think they are great. In fact if you watch old Bugs cartoons, they did too, but as a kid you didn't understand them.

I realize that classic cartoons were not saints. Quite frankly, classic Disney cartoon characters from should be edited by adding paints to a few characters. Too much detail in the drawings.

What I'm referring to is a particular scene where you unfortunatley see something you have never seen on Fox (at least as far as I know) and probably never will with current standards. Something unnecessary.[:'(] That was never shot in the older ones.

Now don't get me wrong, mild crude humor I'm okay with, but when get to the level of so much detail that it upsets my stomach is when it starts to go too far. I like slap-stick humor better honestly. I also like mild stupid humor (homer doing something that is obviously a bad idea and defending it), but sometimes that goes too far. That can get to the point where it doesn't make any sense. The thing I like about the Simpson's is they use a variety of humor.

In my opinion, the first generation of Family Guy (before Fox dropped them the first time) was much better. Now they get too disgusting at times with their crude humor. Plus they try to make jokes on things that I don't think are something to laugh about. Herbert is a character I find completely inappropriate after knowing people who were molested. In contrast the strange attraction that Smithers has to Mr. Burns is funny most of the time because there is nothing about Burns that is likable (he's a cruel, selfish, backstabbing, villian and yet Smithers thinks the world of him and looks up to him) and although Smithers might have "other motives" it at least does not include a minor but a creepy old man.

Honestly, I like the Simpsons a whole lot better than Family Guy. If they would cut down on their preachiness and excessive dirty jokes, I would consider watching it again.

I will watch it when it comes out on rentals. There are too many other movies I want to watch like Bourne Ultimatum and others.

That is one I also want to see. The Bourne series is very intense and interesting.

i have now seen the simpsons movie, and i enjoyed it. it was well done, and i really liked seeing them on the big screen. the best movie of the year? in a slower movie year, i might agree with this, but this has been a monster year for movies. the bourne movie will probably be very good, if its anything like the first two.

we saw "chuck and larry" a few weeks ago, and i dont know that ive laughed that hard at a movie in many many years. however, the homosexual humor might be a bit much for some people.

Yeah, I think I go see the Bourne movie this weekend. Can't remember if it is this weekend or next in the scheduling, but I have heard that it is better than the first 2, which tells me, it will be awesome.

My brother and I love the simpsons. he has seasons 1-9 on DVD I only have season 8![:@]
Well I thought it was good movie worth the $8 bucks my parents paid for me to go.
I do think that a movie is a death of a series(if was originaly a series) and, (spolier ahead... some what) ( Maggies first word (if you stayed till the end of the credits.) can give us an idea. PM me to know Maggies first word of the movie) (her actual first word is in a episode called "lisa's first word" in season four i think

If this movie had been released in the last three years or so, I would say that it was the best movie of the year, but like you said Patrick, this has been a very good year for movies. The Bourne movie was very good. The previews of the "Chuck and Larry" movie made me feel sick to my stomach. Depends on one's taste in movies I guess.

tdub, you are correct. Maggie's first word was in season 4 in that episode. In fact, what is said at the end isn't even Maggie's second word. That would be in season 7 in the episode "Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily." The writers need to make notes of things such as that. When they have parts like that, it makes them look stupid.
