Maybe the next one will be worthy considering it has to be at least as good as the remake for Gone in 60 Seconds.
Well, I'd say that the 1997 version of VP is as good as the second Gone in 60 seconds. Now THAT was a REALLY bad movie. Actually, where they screwed up with the remakes of both VP and Gone was the fact the filmmakers tried to introduce actual storylines. In both cases, that got in the way of a good movie.

Exactly.......a storyline just gets in the way of a good car movie.............

Should I be ashamed to admit I actually liked "Gone In 60 Seconds" (Cage/Jolie version)?

No, if you liked it...great. I personally liked the first much better, but who cares...if you like it, that's all that matters.......

I just got back from Wal-Mart and in the $5 bin was a DVD copy of the original Gone in 60 Seconds. Since I only had it on VHS, I naturally snapped it up.

Good find, I have all three of his DVD's movies in the Gone in 60 Seconds Trilogy, including:
1. "Gone in 60 Seconds"
2. "The Junkman"
3. "Gone in 60 Seconds 2" (H.B Halicki's unfinished film...he died filming it)
"Deadline Auto Theft" (Highlights from Gone in 60 Seconds)
"The life and times of H.B. "Toby" Halicki"
**The man did like to wreck autos.....Long live Toby...

You are not alone, my friend. I think versions of Gone in 60 are pretty "entertaining". Notice I didn't say great movies. The cars were the stars. In VP '97 THEY TRIED TO MAKE THE MAIN CHARACTER'S STORY THE FOCAL POINT. Sorry for the caps but I'm not typing it all over.
