So my dealer calls me last night to tell me that he has a 08 SRT on the floor and I should come take a look. Of course I head there straight after work with high hopes and expectations of getting up close and personal with a 08. Not to order but to take a good long look to get a good idea of my 09. I wasnt disappointed either as that car is absolutely beautiful.

I arrive and to my delight is a Hemi Orange beauty with center in the showroom. My salesman tells me that since I an going to be a 09 owner that I can take a good look over the 08. He unlocks it and opens everything from hood to trunk. First thing I look at is the badge, it is 5605. Then the price tag, which I find disappointing as there was the now usual Market adjustment. The price tag was 53K. However he did say the owner told him that if that car was still there when the first 09 comes in that the price will drop to MSRP or below.

The dealer had received 4 08 SRTs. 2 Black, 1 Orange and 1 Silver. The owner took the first Black one which the salesman says was badge number 2500 or near that. He didnt remember the badge on 2nd Black one. That went to the GM of the four dealerships they own. The Orange one is 5605 as I said and the Silver one was back getting cleaned so I couldnt see the badge.

All I can say is that after a half hour of drooling over that car I had to go home with sticky drawers and seriously wanting my 09. Salesman did say between all four dealerships they have 12 firm orders for 09 SRTs and that I am number one order for all four. He did say that I should be seeing my car about mid September, which the support center has been telling me also.

I know the rumors are that the SE and RTs are being made first, however the VV guy there in the dealership said that those cars would be later on as they are waiting for the variable displacement engines to put in them. All of the first SRTs are going to the leftover orders from the 08 run. He said there were about 3800 people that didnt get a 08 that ordered a 09 and they have first dibs.

 

Hey brucer, I stopped in at the dealership in Plano, IL a few months ago so that dealer gave me a call when they had an Orange 08 in last week. It was already sold but the dealership called me in to see it and pick up an 09 brochure. It was really great because they opened all doors and the hood and let me sit in it and rev the engine!

 

This dealer is Naperville Dodge off Rt. 34. Unfortuantely they wouldnt let me start it. The salesman held the keys although the information panel said to push the go button to start. Don't think I wasnt tempted!

Ok Ok Ok, after all the laughing for me holding hope. I ordered it on May 13 2008. I know mid September is probably a dream but hey, at least its a target to look at, then I get a new date like end of November and so on.

The wait....my car is due in 8/11. Wonder what badge I passed up on that 1.....
