Default Viper-Powered SRT Challenger!

Cool video of the Viper-Powered Challenger SRT.

If this car ever makes it to production, look out Ford and Chevy!!

Now that car sounds like a Challenger should (circa 1970 440 Magnum, of course)!

Default RE: Viper-Powered SRT Challenger!

The November 17 issue of AutoWeek had an article enitled, "Viperized." It contains the following interesting facts:

*The V10 Challenger was the brainchild of Tom McCarthy, senior manager for SRT vehicle synthesis and chassis.

*The car was a early pre-production unit that was rescued before it reached the crusher.

*McCarthy admitted to at least "thinking about a business plan for production."

*600 hp & 560 lb-ft.

*The concept went from idea to driveable car in only 3 months.

*There were 3 goals with the car: it had to be inexpensive to do, it had to be a complete runner when done, and it had to be a show car with showroom quality.

*The induction system was re-routed up, rather than out the front as on the Viper. This created a need for a shaker hood.

*It uses the same Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual used in both the Viper and Challenger with a 3.73 gear.

*It uses larger 390mm, two-piece rotors up front.

*The wheels are 20X9 Alcoas in the front and 20X10 in the rear, fitted with Pirelli P Zeros- 275/35R-20 (front) and 275/40R-20 (rear).

* The fascia was opened up for extra cooling.

*A splitter was added, similar to the one on the chin of the Viper ACR, to help with downforce.

*Springs are 20% stiffer and the Bilstein stocks were re-valved.

*The car only weighs 24 lbs. more than a stock SRT.
