Put a K&N drop in filter in my R/T this morning. When I went to put the lid back on . I noticed something on top of the filter. One of the tab's that go in the slot of bottom part had broke off . Was broke at a angle . Not straight across . I had driven the car and engine heat should have warmed it up . And it was in the garage last night. Think it must have been cracked already from factory . Because it was no problem getting the lid off or back on. Dealer ordered a replacement lid.

 

Dealer is replacing it on warranty right..??

 

Yes the service guy ordered it under warranty. It must have been cracked already to just more or less fall off . And wasn't the whole tab . But at a 45 degree angle across it . One corner.

 

I had the same thing happen to me on a Charger. The plastic tabs are very easy to break. Owners beware!

 

Dealer replaced it yesterday under warranty .

 

Especially when the plastic is cold...
