Sorry to hear the bad news.
The alarm system we got from Brinks works great...if you turn it on....
Remember also thieves like to come back for the insurance replacements.
Camera system at Costco is cool with the night vision cameras.
I have one and was able to track down a hit and run in front of my house.

Damn man were you actually home when this happened? Sucks!

I keep a loaded CZ-75 9mm w/123g hydrashoks sitting in my sock drawer for occasions like that. I seriously hope I NEVER have to use it. My garage is detached and I'm thinking about having a deadbolt put in this summer and also replacing the other doorknob/lock. I don't keep tools in there right now but I do have a jack and jackstands plus some other things they could grab that would piss me off.

Roswell,

Were you home at the time it occurred? If you were, that is scary. Those thieving thugs are getting braver by the day. I would like to catch them in the act from long range and get them in the crosshairs of my3x12x52 zeiss mounted on my 300 ultr-mag. It hits very hard at extremely long range and is extremely acurate. I hate a freaking thief. Someone works hard for the things they posess and some sorry joker will steal it and sell it for a twenty dollar rock. I know it would be a waste of a good bullet, but society will benefit from it in the long run.

No, I wasn't at home. However, my wife was. She was asleep in the bedroom while the thief or thieves were buy in the living room. She woke up when she heard a thumping noise and went out to investigate. Apparently they heard her and ran out the front door. Thank God they left when they did.

Since I work nights and she's at home, I'm naturally worried. That's why I intend to get the security system. Hopefully, a really loud alarm scares the hell out of anyone trying to break in and wakes up my wife earlier.

Sorry to hear about the break in . But glad your wife wasn't hurt . My wife and I were the 2nd family to move into a new subdivision about two year's ago . And no one close to us for over a year. Our contractor had to hire a night watchman to guard the house from theives stealing the wireing out of the houses while being built . And the watchman ran people out of our house at night with his dog. Then after we moved in they stole a bunch of rose bushes outside the garage in the driveway before my wife got them in the ground. But after theives stole the copper and wireing out of a house at the other end of our street during the middle of the day. I had a ADT system installed. And have the sign in front of the house with a light on it at night. I keep my R/T inside the garage . And two Kimber 45's loaded . One has the laser sight. Just glad no one got hurt.

Roswell,

Another good idea is to get a dog. Most of them will offer at least a warning if they hear something to alert you and your senses that something is different or going on.

BTW: They are a man's best friend/

RoswellGrey, I am so sorry to hear that. I am glad to hear nobody was hurt. To me there is nothing more frustrating than a thief who steals because they are too lazy to earn it the old fashion way by working. I hope you get everything back to normal. I know that many people that have been robbed feel violated and it becomes difficult to live in your house
knowing that strangers where in your home which is where you are supposed to feel safe. Getting an alarm and putting preventative measures will help heal that.

Best Wishes.
