I've been thinking SRT 6 speed all along, but I must admit the stout R/T package is quite impressive. The other thing that has been giving me some pause is that I think one will have a bit more flexibility on how you outfit your Challenger if an R/T vs. SRT. The SRT packages have always been pretty tight choices. Hey, It is just great to have this problem

I'll have to admit I like the R/T. With the bump up to 375 HP for the 6-speed. I really feel this is a good package. With a few bolt ons I could equal the SRT-8 in pony power. But not the total package... just HP. I like the hood with no stripes and it just screams my name. I really think I'll get the R/T unless they bump the SRT-8 up in power. A black R/T to go with my 71 R/T. A ying/yang kind of thang.( Sorry it just rhymed). I am really impressed with the forethought Dodge has put into the Challenger offerings. But I'm not ruling out an SRT-8 and my son is thinking hard about trading his Daytona in for a new 2009 SRT-8 Challenger 6-speed.

The only thing I regret is if the srt is offered in a 6.4 in 09, a few more ponies. I like the auto you can always modify the valve body to make it shift a little harder if you need to.. Once I get behind the wheel it will probably satisfy me. If not maybe an air induction system, long tube headers and upgraded exhaust shouldn have her purring just fine.

I'm down with the R/T (unless i get a good deal on an SRT which is not likely to happen). The R/T seems more like a blank canvas to me, plus Mopar already has optional wheels, a T/A hood, different rear spoiler and other goodies to go along. You can spend a little less & personalize it for not much more. AAAAAHHHH, Hot Rodding!

Love the looks of the SRT, pocketbook is screaming trying to pry it open far enought to get the cash. Guess an RT model, but like others have a few more $$$ right off to customize it to my feeling. So for economy's sake I'll do an RT. Now for the color choice.................................

I have been thinking SRT8 all along and I am still trying desperately to hold on to that feeling, but alas, my pocket book too has a hard time coughing up 45K. THe R/T will probably come in around 39K with all the fix'ins, so aside from the interior detailing and the extra braking/suspension/etc - I think I have to give the R/T real consideration.

As with everyone else, if I do not get the color I want however - this is all for not. I will not spend 35+K for a color I do not really like. There is more to any car than just the power plant, the whole package has to work together. I am hoping Chrysler will figure this out sooner rather than later. In a way I think they have, the RT seems to be the most popluar among forums I am reading - it is almost like they are quietly trying to dissuade people from buying SRT8's. What do you think? Some CAFE thing?? Dun'kno

Actually, I think it all about value. You get a good HP rating with the 5.7L MDS and VCT so you have good fuel economy all at a good price.

Good value is hard to beat.

As stated, the RT is a blank canvas, and that is suuuuuper appealing.

Also, in regards to fuel economy....putting premium in the SRTFuelDestroyer would be at least a weekly beatdown on the wallet and the marriage. Seriously, though, the mileage ratings don't even account for the differentiation in fuel cost from regular to premium.

The RT is a pretty darn good value (MSRP pending). Ripe for customizing (not gangsterizing.) I wouldn't dream of customizing an SRT8, it just seems wrong. Immediate disqualifier.

Looks like the RT 5.7L is ripe for Saleen to customize for more HP at this point.
