Get on a good stretch of road, I had mine a few months ago at 0 to about 130 and didn't feel a thing. She handled like a dream. I want to get her out and run her hard for a mile or two just not brave enough to gamble my license right now.

After reading some reviews on Tire Rack about the Good Year RS A on my car. I think that could be most of the problem . They have a very bad rating. On almost everything. That doesn't suprise me .

Nah, I don't mean that way, 70sguy. I meant the 70s were a LOT more fun because you could actually USE the cars. Because of the cost and the complexities of these machines, most of us DON'T actually use them as a car should be used. I'm guilty of this. I KNOW Paladin is extremely guilty of this Heck, I got my car in September and have 1118 miles on it. We all have in the back of our heads that somehow, these machines are going to become collectors' items (which they may or may not) and are treating them like museum pieces.
Actually, I have to say that my 08 is a better car in all respects, be it handling, speed, comfort....It's apples and oranges...two very different cars that share the same name and look, but little else. While you are correct that I don't race my 08 as I did my 70...I am older and wiser and prefer not to replace my engine (440) as I did twice back in the day due to heavy racing...and I can't work on my 08 as I could my 70. Things cost a lot more today and I have other things that compete for my dollar...house, food, taxes, wife, etc, etc....
I drive my Challenger when ever and where ever I can....I doubt my 08 will be a real collector's item in my life time (but who knows)...so while I treat it better than I ever did my 70...it's not a museum piece.
Oh, and one more thing both Challengers share...."the fun factor" and I do enjoy driving it!!!

Just sitting here thinking after reading some of the post . 38 years ago when I had the 71 R/T . The road's where much better shape than they are now. I was on some better roads yesterday and the car felt much better . But still think the All Season tires may be part of the problem. Could be some bad tires also . I like 70sguy was much more fearless 38 years ago. The Vanishing Point Movie was more me back then. But think I have have to get a radar detector with this new R/T . The song I can't drive 55 keeps sounding off in my head.

On my RT I switched from the factory 18's to the Goodyear 20's. The car rides just as smoothly on the road but it seems to me that the 20's will actually break loose a little easier when heavy throttle is applied at low speed. To me they are more fun and the car gets that many more compliments due to the chome on the wheels. Heck it's just all fun and for me that is why I own this car.

BLK 6050,

Nicely put! I'm in the same boat. I know I will not be around in even another 20 years. I just keep hoping for one more, then I will worry about the next. I have had (2) 100% blockages and (5) stents, heart disease runs in my family very bad. I will take care of my Challenger, but I'm going to drive and enjoy her as well. You never know when you might not wake up or go into that long dirt nap. My car is paid for and it will be passed on to my son for him to enjoy and maybe own a collectable car one day. Besides I do love the "GRIN" ! I seem to get one every time I push the button.

BLK 6050 , Wishing you many years of enjoying your Challenger. Agent Orange from Nam has been trying to do me in . Diabetes and high blood pressure bad, Thryroid cancer in 05 , Right Kidney cancer in 07 . More pills than my Dad had. The Challenger has turned the clock back 38 years in my mind . If only it could do that to my body. I'll be 60 the 29th of Jan. The Challenger R/T really makes me forget about everything when I feel the power running it through those 6 gears. Thanks Dodge , Just what I needed.

Sorry to hear that BkChallenger09R/T. Are you getting compensated from the V/A for the agent orange issue? I too am in the same boat. Jan72-Jan76 I was in the USAF and loaded munitions on F4s and A7s. I just bought a Corvette in Nov 2004 and a few months later I found out that I had prostate cancer. I was so bummed out about that and didn't feel like doing anything. I sold the Vette within a month or two of the news. Just didn't feel like driving it. I was 52 years old then. I inquired about filing a claim for agent orange compensation but was told that I had to have set foot in Viet-Nam to receive the compensation. I explained to them that even though I was not in Nam, I was at Udorn RTAFB in Thailand and loaded all types of munitions (including what I believed at the time was agent orange) that were used for the war. It made no difference to them. So, rather than fight "City Hall", I gave up about filing. You got to love the red tape. Anyway, buying this Challenger has been the best thing to happen to me since before prostate cancer. I've had lots of hot muscle cars in my "youth", but I have never been as excited about any of them as much as I have about my white Chally. BTW....my personalized plate is "VNSHPNT".

Thanks CAJ, I was a K9 Scout Dog Handler in Nam 70 - 71. Had a German Shepherd I walked point to detect mine, booby trap's and enemy ambush. was normally with a unit two weeks at a time . Then 3 day stand down for the dog to rest and out with another unit . Had action report at the end of each mission. So that helped in them know where I was and when . And was in heavily sprayed area of agent orange . I didn't put in till 2000 for benifits . But had done test in early 80s that the VA told me in 96 I had high levels of stuff related to agent orange in my system. I finally got 90 percent after my employer GE forced me to retire early or else due to service connected medical problems. Took two years though. I've meet some Navy guy's that had that stuff on them on ship's and Air Force guy's also that where exposed to it. And lot of health problem's . Many of our young men and women today are exposed to bad stuff also. I've alway's been Car Crazy and owned many muscle car's . 66 Plymouth Belvedere bench seat 4 speed , 71 Challenger R/T 340, 71 Buick GS Stage 1 455, and others and now my 09 Challenger R/T 6 speed . Can't take it with you . So enjoy it everyday. Best of luck with your health .
