Default certificate know how to tell what the actual production no is of their car?

Does anyone who owns a 2008 Dodge Challenger and has the certificate know how to tell what the actual production no is of their car?

Certificate? Do you mean the numbered plate on the dash?

Maybe Chrysler knows the order the cars were built, but I don't know of anyone that has access to that info or how to get it. They did not get numbered until they went to get the hood stripes, and they did not necessarily go in the order built, nor did they get built in the sequence they were ordered.

I have number 2133, but I know there were others whose cars were built before mine and placed on hold, that have a higher numbered vehicle. Hope that helps.

From what it sounded like at the time the '08s were being built, the numbering sequence wasn't a formal thing. Apparently, the dashboard plaques simply were stuck on after the stripes were applied. They might have even been in a bin and workers just yanked them out willy-nilly and stuck them on the dashboards. The plaques are more to show the cars are part of a special group than to indicate the order the cars were built in.

I don't think they skipped around on the plaque numbers, so they make some sense. It's just that the 08's didn't necessarily leave the plant and sent to the vendor in the order built. From what I could tell people weren't getting car 2500 delivered with car 4000. My friend ordered his 12/3, and mine was ordered 12/4. They were built a day or so apart and I believe his number was 2093, mine 2133.

the dash plaque/vin sequence thing will drive the galen goviers of the future crazy...there is no correlation between the two numbers...I have a really low vin (289572), but my plaque number is 1901...
